wine users - Mar 2001 - font problem

Hi,

When I start ie under wine it pops up a msg box which I think asks if ie
should be made the default browser BUT it comes up in unreadable font
(looks like loads of symbols) it also happens with pop-ups for security
warnings, does anyone know how to fix it?
