The more hardware choices we have, the better. You may not be the first, but definitely don't let that stop you. All I can say is good luck, and I will look forward to seeing this player soon. Needless to say, we all await a selection of portable .ogg players. Checkout e.digitals designs at http://www.edig.com/ I saw an ad for their Treo 15 [a portable player that uses a 15gb hard drive instead of a CD] and wrote them suggesting adding .ogg support. While their customer support department was enthused, saying they had many such requests, the project ehgineer overruled, saying he would prefer to add windows media support. In looking up their URL, I notice they have just begun shipping a new model this week, with a 20gb hd and wma but not ogg support. http://www.edigital-store.com/odyssey1000.html
looks like the ogg market is yours :)
--- Bernhard Naegele <Bernhard.Naegele@t-online.de> wrote:> Hello everybody, > what do you think about a portable OGG/Vorbis > player, for example ARM or MIPS > or PowerPC based? > I am a hardware engineer and I am thinking about > such a project... > Best regards, > Bernhard > --- >8 ---- > List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ > Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ > To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to > 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' > containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. > No subject is needed. > Unsubscribe messages sent to the list will beignored/filtered.
__________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? digging deeper: (SAN DIEGO, CA - January 9, 2003) - e.Digital Corporation (OTC: EDIG) today announced a development and co-marketing partnership with PortalPlayer, Inc. As a PortalPlayer Design Partner, e.Digital plans to develop new digital audio products combining PortalPlayer’s single-chip integrated circuit for music encoding and playback with e.Digital’s reference designs. As part of the agreement, PortalPlayer will refer pre-qualified OEM customers to e.Digital for product development using PortalPlayer’s chip set. http://www.edig.com/news/releases/pr010903.html Maybe PortalPlayer should be contacted and encouraged to add .ogg support to their IC.
