Hi all, Please could you tell me when is planned a version of Ogg Vorbis with low bitrate encoding? I'm waiting for this feature because I want to put my music on the web. But the song is very long, about 30 mn (yes, this is progressive music). So I fear nobody will listen to it except if the bitrate is cut down. Thanks! PS: If you really want, you can listen to the masterpiece at http://patrick.godeau.free.fr I will make an official announce when I have a low bitrate version! Hey.. This is a really good track. Don't butcher it by lowering the bitrate, though. Maybe you could just cut a short sample out of it, so modem users (poor kids..) could get a preview before embarking on a 60-minute download? --Wilson. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patrick Godeau" <patrick.godeau@free.fr> To: <vorbis@xiph.org> Sent: Wednesday, June 13, 2001 6:04 PM Subject: [vorbis] Low bitrate: when?> Hi all, > > Please could you tell me when is planned a version of Ogg Vorbis with > low bitrate encoding? > > I'm waiting for this feature because I want to put my music on the web. > But the song is very long, about 30 mn (yes, this is progressive music). > So I fear nobody will listen to it except if the bitrate is cut down. > > Thanks! > > PS: If you really want, you can listen to the masterpiece at > http://patrick.godeau.free.fr > I will make an official announce when I have a low bitrate version! > > Patrick > > > --- >8 ---- > List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ > Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ > To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-request@xiph.org' > containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. resample to 32000, 24000 or 22500 khz. make it mono and encode it with -b 1 (lowest possible bitrate). you could use sox or ecasound for downsampling. Thank you, this is kind of you. ...but I think that I won't upload a 270 MB file through my poor modem :-( I'll rather follow the advice of Wilson, and cut some samples. I'm also afraid of the sound rendering, after all Stonehenge is not rap, so giving high quality samples is perhaps the less worse solution. And people who like will order a CD :-) I'll try later with low bitrate when it comes out... I've read it is not far, am I right? nobody answered this. Anyway thanks for the offer.
