I suspect the BIOS authors haven't either...

Peter, do you mean "BIOS" in the broader sense, including UEFI
firmware
and syslinux.efi (as the OP is asking about)?

Do you mean that *syslinux.efi* does not support (yet) "4k" devices?

It ought to, but again, testing is hard.
