I don't think we have tested booting from 4K logical sector devices; and
I suspect the BIOS authors haven't either...

Peter, do you mean "BIOS" in the broader sense, including UEFI firmware
and syslinux.efi (as the OP is asking about)?
Do you mean that *syslinux.efi* does not support (yet) "4k" devices?
