Syslinux - Jan 2011 - localboot in pxelinux recurses back into pxelinux then eventually crashes

A couple of months back there was this message on the list.

I have exactly the same result on just a few types of machines.

Acer Tavelmate 8372 and 5742
InsydeH2O Bios v1.05
Broadcom UNDI PXE 2.1 V 14.0.8

It started after I upgrades pxelinux.0 to version 3.86

Versions tested and got the recursing:
3.86, 3.85, 3.84 and 3.83

On version 3.82 it works. (so stopped trying there)

It looks like something has changed from 3.82 to 3.83 that broke localboot 
for some types of machines.
All other types of machines have no problem with it at all, with any over 
the verions.

Could you try the prereleases between 3.82 and 3.83?

Hello list,

Is the issue reported in January by Denie Andriessen (email is below)
has been fixed? I'm seeing the same issue with pxelinux 4.02 as
distributed in Debian Squeeze. The network card is Broadcom with
UNDI PXE-2.1 v2.8.5.

I can confirm that both 4.04 and 4-05-pre6 loop back to initializing
network card and retrievint pxeboot.0 from tftp server again after
showing "Booting from local disk, PXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM. "
lines. Will go through 3.85 pre-releases later today.

Tried LOCALBOOT 0 and -1?  This sounds similar by symptom but is different
enough that knowing the make/model, BIOS, and whether the NIC in question
is built-in (LoM; LAN on motherboard)?
