Syslinux - Mar 2005 - syslinux 3.07 fails on MSI Hermes 651 boxes

When trying to boot a 2.88M syslinux 3.07 image from the boot area of a CD on 
an MSI Hermes 651, it says "SYSLINUX 3.07 2005-01-12 ", then hangs
forever.

On any other machine I've tried, the same CD displays my boot.msg after this
message, and then boots the kernels listed in the configs.

Any idea what's causing this, and how to fix/work around it?

Disk images are broken in many recent BIOSes, probably especially 2.88 
MB ones.  I would try using ISOLINUX instead.

What  processor is used in the MSI Hermes 651 system?
(I think about an invalid instruction)

Second thing that comes to mind:  Memory map of the new board.
Do other CDs work in that new system?
