How is the root filesystem exported? It must be exported with 'root=' or
'anon=0'
(warning! Insecure!). Perhaps you should start with a copy of your root
filesystem,
and use this for all your clients. And you need to make sure that all your
clients
get at least the network interface configured from the kernel (so the network
driver needs to be either in the kernel or in an initrd). Have a look at the
kernel messages,
if it initializes any network card.
