I have arranged for an official Speex ACM format tag from Microsoft (see below). Feel free to use this in any ACM codec work. I have assigned WAVE_FORMAT_SPEEX to hex id 0xa109. Go ahead and use this format ID in the speex content you are creating. Hence I thought I should not even try registering my OpenACM project with Microsoft. Erm, so how many ACM codecs for speex are there right now? ;) One problem with these would be interoperability. If three different ACM implementations all used the same format tag, they would most likely not play well with each other. I have a very specific arrangement in my WAVEFORMATEX header as well as in the "data" payload of the WAVE file.
