Asking an old housekeeping question...
My bad. I know I've asked this some time back but I'm afraid I've lost the post
along the way and am not having much luck searching the net.
Don't want to pad my R setup with orphan packages. Is there a small snippet of
code or even a single command that would allow me to check the packages I do use
for their dependencies and then I can chuck those that don't turn up as wanted

No, they didn't.

Massive filtering
I am trying to build a trafic control rule set for a huge NATed network, and I have it working for single known addresses but I need to scale it to 16M potential client addresses. I''m using iptables for NAT. Incoming traffic is simple because I can match destination address, outgoing traffic I use iptables IPMARK then tc match mark and it works perfectly if I build rules for each client

nls with plinear and function on RHS
Dear R gurus,
As part of finding initial values for a much more complicated fit I want to
fit a function of the form y ~ a + bx + cx^d to fairly "noisy" data and have
hit some problems.
To demonstrate the specific R-related problem, here is an idealised data
set, smaller and better fitting than reality:
# idealised data set
aDF <- data.frame( x= c(1.80, 9.27, 6.48, 2.61, 9.86,

Current RHEL fragmentation landscape
I subscribe (pay) for a lot of things personally. Music, Movies, Anti
Virus, VPN, Storage, etc.
But for my business, I do not want to pay Red Hat, Zimbra, or Google Workspace.
Why ?
Because the general rule seems to be
Oh! You are an individual, we will offer you affordable/free service
What! You are a business, we will offer you extremely 'unaffordable' service.
Because being a

I disagree with you. Both Rocky Linux and AlmaLinux are in a very
comfortable position, and they will likely stay that way.
my predict is that they will continue as a #rebuilder / #freeloader,
writing software is a hard work.
SuSe hardfork will probably be only an

Nightly housekeeping/Logwatch periodically not running
I've noticed something strange with a 3.4 test box that is basically
just sitting here in the lab. I've got it configured to forward me the
Logwatch run (which seems to go off at 4:02am by default). Every couple
of days, that logwatch run goes missing. I haven't really dug down to
find out if the cron job is crapping out or if postfix is dropping the
report on the floor. Is

Wiki housekeeping...
1. If one of the Wiki admins would like to change my Wiki name
to CrisRhea, rather than crisrhea, that would be fine with me
(I currently only have the /HowTos/Xen/NvidiaWithXen page).
2. I'd like to create a home page for myself, but don't have permission.
If you guys still recommend using the home page for contact
info/comments on pages, may I please have one?
Thanks

building NUT on Mac OS X Yosemite (website/documentation)

The version number is simply a placeholder, indicating that the Git tree has changes beyond v2.7.2, and is not yet released as v2.7.3. After we start making changes, you may want to use "git describe --tags" or the Git commit ID.

Data Frame housekeeping
Hello,
I have a large data frame that is organized by date in a peculiar way. I
am seeking advice on how to transform the data into a format that is of
more use to me.
The data is organized as follows:

X5 X6 X7

paste command with new line separator
Win xp sp2, R v2.7.1
Hi. If I have two numeric columns in a data frame, I can use the paste
command to combine them into a new column separated by a comma.
c3=paste(c1,c2,sep=',')
gives: 1 1 -> "1,1"
Is there any way I can use a new line (\n) as a separator?
i.e.
1 1 -> 1

I tried paste(1,1,'\n') but it only gives "1\n1"
Is there any other

Display problems with Freelance Graphics & Notes under Wine
I have been trying to use Freelance Graphics under Wine for a long time
(since Oct 2000 :), but I cannot seem to get the display stuff working
correctly. I always get text splattered over top of other text when
trying to view existing .PRZ files. This happens in both Freelance and
in Lotus Notes (when Notes is trying to display a file attachment of the
.prz persuasion).

NUT not recognising Mini-box OpenUPS 2
Hello,
Would like to see if I could get some help with this UPS on a debian
set-up. Am not the best with linux and have tried what I managed to find
elsewhere on the list so am just trying here.
1) Device seems supported:
http://networkupstools.org/ddl/Mini-Box.com/OpenUPS2.html
2) lsusb -v -d 04d8: seems to give the right parameters including product
name, max power etc from the unit
3)
