bugs.seed= and summary.only= option in R2WinBUGS
Dear R user:
I am using R2WinBUGs to call WinBUGS from R. But I have some problems in
using either the option bugs.seed and summary.only in the function bugs.
Here are the programs and error messages. It appears that if I don't use
either option, the program runs fine. I am using R2.5.1 and WinBUGs14.
The program is not running:

Making R talk to Win/OpenBUGS in Linux (again)
I'm back!
I've just learned that, on a fully updated Fedora Core Linux5 sytem,
the working solution to access Winbugs under wine via the R package
"rbugs" no longer works. Here was my last post on this topic (with
the formerly working solution) from January.

R2WinBUGS awkward to use
Hi All
Does anyone know if I can avoid to use the write.model() function below? I dont
want to do this. Can't bugs() do that automatically for me just by specifying
the 4th argument 'model'? Just I like I am also using the 'inits' object!
If I use 'model' in the same way as I use 'inits' I am getting the error:
> sim <- bugs(data, inits, parameters,

A question about bugs.R: functions for running WinBUGs from R
Dear R users,
I've found bugs.R : the functions for running WinBUGs from R that is
writen by Dr. Andrew Gelman who is a professor from Columbia University.
The bugs.R would be very useful for me, and I think many of you know it
as well. I followed the instuctions on Dr. Gelman's web to install all
of documents that bugs.R needs, but when I try to run the school example

Help on using WinBUGS on Mac
Dear all,
I had trouble in setting up WinBUGS on my Mac, and I'm seeking for some help
here.
I followed the instruction by Tom Palmer here:
http://www.ruudwetzels.com/MacBUGS/winbugsonmacosx.pdf
I installed Darwine 1.1.21, and downloaded WinBUGS14. However, when I
double-clicked the WinBUGS14.exe file, a black-box dialog window poped up,

R2WinBUGS - parameter monitor seting
R2WinBUGS users,
I'm getting the error message "monitor could not be set" when I try to
monitor (and output to R) a response variable that includes missing data
(NAs)...ie.e imputing for y. Setting monitors for other parameters works
OK and running the R-generated WinBUGS script file in WinBUGS, also
works OK. Below is my R code and the log.txt file output by R2WinBUGS.

Current state of support for BUGS access for Linux users?
Greetings:
I'm going to encourage some students to try Bayesian ideas for
hierarchical models.
I want to run the WinBUGS and R examples in Tony Lancaster's An
Introduction to Modern Bayesian Econometrics. That features MS
Windows and "bugs" from R2WinBUGS.
Today, I want to ask how people are doing this in Linux? I have found
a plethora of possibilities, some of which are not

A Simple Question
Hi:
I am trying to run your SCHOOLS example as following and I get an error message stated that : Error: could not find function "bugs"
Would you please help me since I would like to run some WINBUG programs from your R by reading external data and I am new to R?
Do I missing some function? Should I install some extra files?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help!!

R2WinBUGS under Linux/WINE fails
Hi,
I'm running wine-1.0.1, OpenBUGS 3.0.3, R 2.9.0, and R2WinBUGS on a Redhat
Enterprise Linux machine.
Following various peoples' suggestions...
This works perfectly (yay!): wine Z:/opt/OpenBUGS/winbugs.exe
Within R, however, I get this:
(setup the example from ?bugs, then....)

bugs() ignores my inits
Hi All
I can specify whatever inits, it has no effect on the estimation. I am
replicating a textbook example. The result is completely trash, having estimates
of -58.7 (sd=59.3), where it should be closer to an ml estimate of 0.585 (SE=0.063).
The two chains within one run are different, but with different inits for
different runs, I get exactly the same chains, and I mean exactly.
If I set

Openbugs and rbugs on mac with wine
Hello list,
I?ve been trying to get OpenBUGS running on my mac using the wine
emulator. I can run Openbugs just fine by doing:
wine ~/OpenBUGS312/OpenBUGS.exe
In the terminal, so OpenBUGS works. When I try to run the schools
example using rbugs(), the OpenBUGS process starts in wine, but it
just sits there, no log, no script, no output of any sort. The rbugs
() call makes the init,

compare posterior samples from R2OpenBugs and R function bugs{R2WinBUGS}
Hi all,
I used both OpenBugs and R function bugs{R2WinBUGS} to run a linear mixed
effects model based on the same data set and initial values. I got the same
summary statistics but different posterior samples. However, if I order
these two sets of samples, one is generated from OpenBugs and the other is
generated from R, they turn to be the same. And the samples from R do not

Are they fully identical: WinBUGS and OpenBUGS; R2WinBUGS and R2OpenBUGS
Hello ALL!
I am running Linux, Fedora 15 64-bits, and R on it. I need to use
WinBUGS and R2WinBUGS, but as far as I read, WinBUGS is closed project,
to be continued with/as OpenBUGS. Thus, I have found R2OpenBUGS on
OpenBUGS Contributed Code (http://openbugs.info/w/UserContributedCode),
not on CRAN. Author(s) states that it is equivalent for R2WinBUGS. I
tried briefly, and realized few minor

R2winBUGS & WinBUGS gui
I am trying to figure out if it is possible to run winBUGS from within
R, using R2winBUGS, without having winBUGS spawn any windows (basically
- 'true' batch - no GUI actions at all). The reason being I have a
machine which I (and several others) ssh/telnet into, and would like to
run winBUGS without having to mount a virtual desktop of any kind.
I've looked through the r2winBUGS

Cannot start OpenBUGS from R2WinBugs
Hello,
I'm running R version 3.4.2 on Windows. I have a program written in
BUGS which I can successfully run from the R2WinBUGS package.
I would also like to try and use the same package to use OpenBUGS
(version 3.2.3) rather than WinBUGS.
The initial output looks ok (shown below), but the OpenBUGS executable
is never started. Instead I see a process running called

R2WinBUGS stopping execution
Apologies if this isn't acceptable for the general help list.
I'm running OpenBUGS model via the R2WinBUGS package interface, under
Windows. Is it possible to terminate running models, short of using the
Windows Task Manager to forcibly exit the program?
Regards,
Richie.

The error while using R2WinBUGS
Dear all,
I tried to run WinBUGS model in R by using package R2WinBUGS, but I
failed because of the massage : cannot calculate DIC for model in log
file of WinBUGS14. In fact, the model works in WinBUGS and I can get
summaries of the model, such as density, stats..., except DIC , because
DIC may not be appropriate in this kind of model due to some
reasons(according to the manual of WinBUGS14),
