Cramer-von Mises normality test
Hi, this is my first help request so please bear with me. I've been running some normality tests using the nortest package. For some of my datasets the Cramer-von Mises normality test generates an extremely high probability (e.g., 1.637e+31) and indicates normality when the other tests do not. Is there something I'm misunderstanding or potentially a bug in the code? Below are the

Bug in nortest cvm.test package (PR#8980)
I believe there to be a bug in the cvm.test module of the nortest package authored by Juergen Gross. I do not know how to contact the author directly. I've been running some normality tests using the nortest package. For some of my datasets the Cramer-von Mises normality test generates an extremely high probability (e.g., 1.637e+31) and indicates normality when the other tests do

Thank you!
Thank you very much for your help, your fuction runs on R without any change, and the results are the same that your obtain with Splus, but there still a small difference. In SAS W=0.960439 With your shapiro.wilk.test W=0.9606107 But the p-values are almost the same. Thank you very much for your help. > Here is a function for the Shapiro-wilk test that I obtained from StatLib. > Using

normality tests
Hi all, apologies for seeking advice on a general stats question. I ve run normality tests using 8 different methods: - Lilliefors - Shapiro-Wilk - Robust Jarque Bera - Jarque Bera - Anderson-Darling - Pearson chi-square - Cramer-von Mises - Shapiro-Francia All show that the null hypothesis that the data come from a normal distro cannot be rejected. Great. However, I don't think it looks

Censored Brier Score and Royston/Sauerbrei's D
System: R 2.3.1 on a Windows XP computer. I am validating several cancer prognostic models that have been published with a large independent dataset. Some of the models report a probability of survival at a specified timepoint, usually at 5 and 10 years. Others report only the linear predictor of the Cox model. I have used Harrell's c index for censored data (rcorr.cens) as a measure of

The normality of the residuals is important in the inference procedures for the classical linear regression model, and normality is very important in correlation analysis (second moment)... Royston Parmar adjusted survival curves using flexsurv
Dear R I am trying to understand and use the flexible parametric survival model suggested by Royston and Parmar. However I am stuck trying to plot the adjusted survival curves for different covariates in the following code: library(flexsurv) library(graphics) spl <- flexsurvspline(Surv(futime, fustat) ~ rx+ecog.ps+resid.ds+age, data = ovarian, k=2, scale="odds") spl the code

deleting (empty) directories
I am evaluating rsync for the mirroring of a website and associated database. To exercise it and establish the correct run string I need I am running tests LOCALLY between two test directories. I have a /scratch/temp/Departure and a /scratch/temp/Arrival trees. I apply changes to the Departure tree, run rsync, and do a diff -r. Now I delete a file in Departure rm Departure/Quattro/uno.file

error in optim: initial value in 'vmmin' is not finite
Dear r-helpers, I'm experiencing some problems in fitting a maximum likelihood binomial model to some of my data. The error is in optim, which founds: Error in optim(par = c(0.2, 0.5), fn = function (p) : initial value in 'vmmin' is not finite Yes, I know it's a common problem, and I've carefully searched and readed all the posts about the issue, But, I can't find a

I need an idea !
Hello here, I need to find an idea to solve a problem I manage Events which are of kind :arrival or :departure At first the two kind of events was unrelated but my client want to see the :departure belonging to the :arrival and vice versa. I''m searching for a solution to implement this ''link''. I''ve thought about an integer column containing an uniq id for

Measure of separation for survival data
Dear all, I am using R 2.9.2 on Windows XP. I am undertaking a simulation study to consider methods of external validation in the context of missing covariates in the validation data set. I would like to use Royston's measure of prognostic separation as a method of external validation. Although there is no R code for this, the author informs me that it should be easy: 1. Calculate the

more questions Re: deleting (empty) directories
Thanks to Tim Conway and Phil Marek. The correct way(s) to synchronize two directory trees is to avoid a trailing "*" after the origin directory (either use a . or nothing) rsync -rlptPzu --delete /scratch/temp/Departure/. /scratch/temp/Arrival/ rsync -rlptPzu --delete /scratch/temp/Departure/ /scratch/temp/Arrival/ I was misled by my first tests rsync -rlptPzu --delete

Samba Replication
Hello, I have the following situation: I have two offices, which both require local speed access to their file shares. Currently there is a single windows server that provides network shares to both offices, the remote one through a vpn. I have used Samba since the early days, and am quite familiar with it's capabilities and limitations, however I have never tried to perform replication with

Database design, working but looking for better ways
Rails 3.1.3 Hi. I have designed the database used for my travel plan application. You should be able to look at the diagram in the link below, hopefully. https://cacoo.com/diagrams/biDSyxh8yzk2kIeg ("belongs_to" is omitted since it''s obvious) Basically, the application can list the destinations from a choice of the departure. Not mention that the departure_id (integer) and

glm(weights) and standard errors
Is there a way to tell glm() that rows in the data represent a certain number of observations other than one? Perhaps even fractional values? Using the weights argument has no effect on the standard errors. Compare the following; is there a way to get the first and last models to produce the same results? data(sleep) coef(summary(glm(extra ~ group, data=sleep))) coef(summary(glm(extra ~ group,

Non-constancy of variances in mixed model.
Hi, I've been doing an experiment, measuring the dead-zone-diameters of bacteria, when they've been grown with paper diffusion disks of antimicrobial. There are two groups, or treatments - one is bacteria that have been cultured in said antimicrobial for the past year, the other group is of the same species, but lab stock and has not gone had any prior contact with the antimicrobial.
