trellis plot question
Greetings, Does anyone know how to get an id number in the little header above each individual plot within a trellis plot? The default seems to be to print the word id and add a line indicating on a linear scale where the current id sits. Thanks in advance for any help you can send, Suzette ================================= Suzette Blanchard, Ph.D. Research Scientist Frontier Science

lme, nlsList, nlsList.selfStart
Dear listers, I am trying to fit a model using nlsList() using alternately a SSfol() selfstart function or its developped equivalent formulae. This preliminary trial works well mydata<-groupedData(Conc~Tps|Organ,data=mydata) mymod1<-nls(Conc~SSfol(Dose,Tps,lKe,lKa,lCl),data=mydata) as well as a developped form: mymod2<-nls(Conc~Dose * exp(lKe+lKa-lCl) *

ROracle SQL length limitation
Hi All, This question was brought up some time ago but I never saw a reply so I'd like to bring it up again. When using ROracle package (version 0.5-5), I am unable to run any queries that are greater than 4000 characters in length. If I do, I get the following message: Error in oraPrepareStatement(con, statement, bind=NULL) : RS-DBI driver: (too long a statement -- it must has less than

cubic spline smoother with heterogeneous variance.
Hello. I want to estimate the predicted values and standard errors of Y=f(t) and its first derivative at each unique value of t using the smooth.spline function. However, the data (plant growth as a function of time) show substantial heterogeneity of variance since the variance of plant mass increases over time. What is the consequence of such heterogeneity of variance in terms of bias in the

cubic spline smoothers with heterogeneous variances
Hello. I have data (plant weights over time) that are non-linear and in which the variance increases over time. I have to estimate the first derivatives of plant weight given time (i.e. growth rate) and their se, using a regression smoother, and I have been considering cubic spline smoothers. However, I do not know if this can be done given that the error variance would increase over time.

\Sexpr in MikTex
Greetings, \Sexpr{} has worked on MikTex with earlier versions of R, I can not seem to get it to work with R-2.4.0. I run Sweave with MikTex using the following statement in Run under Accessories. latex -include-directory="C:\Program Files\R\R-2.4.0\share\texmf" "C:\Documents and Settings\Suzette\Desktop\MyFile\MyProgram.tex" Any advice would be much appreciated, Suzette

Greetings, I implemented BRugs to run the EWOC model with a cohort size N=1. I output the simulation data using bugsdata(data), where data is the following list. > data $Dose [1] 140 $Y [1] 0 bugsdata(data) puts out the file data.txt as follows. list(Dose=1.40000E+02, Y=0.00000E+00) after I type the following line modelData("data.txt")

reading the seed from a simulation
Greetings, I have a simulation of a nonlinear model that is failing. But it does not fail til way into the simulation. I would like to look at the run that is failing and maybe I could if I could capture the seed for the failing run. The help file on set.seed says you can do it but when I tried rs<-.Random.seed print(paste("rs",rs,sep=" ")) I got 626 of them so I

Writing R documentation

Problems with nlme: Quinidine example

gnls from library nlme
Dear all, I am trying to gain some experience with the function gnls from the nlme package. I tried to model the Theophyline data by trying to model the presumed dependency of the clearance on the body weight. This is my function call of gnls: gnls(conc~SSfol(Dose,Time,lKe,lKa,lCl),data=Theoph, params=list(lKe~1,lKa~1,lCl~Wt),start=c(-2.4,0.46,-3.22,0.01)) That's been the result: Error

Use pcls in "mgcv" package to achieve constrained cubic spline
Hello everyone,          Dr. wood told me that I can adapting his example to force cubic spline to pass through certain point.          I still have no idea how to achieve this. Suppose we want to force the cubic spline to pass (1,1), how can I achieve this by adapting the following code? # Penalized example: monotonic penalized regression spline ..... # Generate data from a monotonic truth.

cubic spline
Hallo, I'm facing a problem and I would really appreciate your support. I have to translate some Matalb code in R that I don't know very well but I would like to. I have to interpolate 5 point with a cubic spline function and then I expect my function returns the Y value as output a specific X value inside the evaluation range. Let's suppose that: 1- *X = [-10, -5, 0, 5, 10]* 2

Restricted cubic spline function ERROR?: glm(Y~rcs(x,5))
Dear all, Is the restricted cubic spline function working properly in the glm model? We used glm(y~rcs(x,5), family=binomial) but it seems that for some theoretical reasons the rcs, restricted cubic spline function can not be fitted by a glm function. Is this correct? Regards, Jan ((Originally, we used lrm(y~ rcs(x,5)) but we couldn't find how to derive the AIC value of the fitted model.

How to get the penalty matrix for natural cubic spline?
Hi, all I am trying to get the basis matrix and penalty matrix for natural cubic splines. In the "splines" package of R,"ns" can generate the B-spline basis matrix for a natural cubic spline. How can I get the basis matrix and penalty matrix for natural cubic spline. Thanks a lot! Lee [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Constrained cubic smoothing spline
Hello everone,            Anyone who knows how to force a cubic smoothing spline to pass through a particular point?            I found on website  someone said that we can use "cobs package" to force the spline pass through certain points or impose shape           constraints (increasing, decreasing). However,  this package is using  B-spline and can only do linear and quadratic
