effect function (effects package)
Dear all,
How does the effect() function in the effects package calculate effects and standard errors for glm quasipoisson models? I was using effect() to calculate the impact of increasing x to e + epsilon, and then finding the expected percent change. I thought that this effect (as a percentage) should be exp(beta*epsilon), where beta is the appropriate coefficient from the model, but

Help Memdisk + Pxelinux hangs
Hello,
I am a *nix newbie
I am trying to boot a DOS boot disk using PXE (to Ghost on windows
images).
We have an existing PXE server which successfully serves out PXElinux and
Fedora builds based on that but my floppy disk image with memdisk isn't
working
I have tried a few different floppy images which people have posted as
ones that work for them but I doubt the disk is the problem

Call "stuck" in queue
Asterisk 11.1.0
One queue with strategy=leastrecent. (Full queues.conf below.)
Occasionally (several times today), a caller will get "stuck" in the
queue - there are operators available to take the call, but the caller
stays in the queue for a long time. Any idea what might cause this, or
where I can start looking to debug it? I'm going to start digging
through the queue log

Join table not being populated
Hello,
I have the usual Categories and Products table scenario, mediated by a
Categories_Products join table. When I create a new Product and into a
given Category, I notice that my join table is not being populated.
Shouldn''t the join Categories_Products table be populated?
Thanks,

Windows 2000
Just curious, has anyone gotten Samba to work with Windows 2000? I've
mucked with it a bit. But can't seem to make it go. I haven't tried
applying the NT 4.0 Registry patches yet I will probably take a look at
them and see if I can get them working with Win2000.
Thanks!

simultaneous confidence intervals for glm quasipoisson
Hi all,
Is there a package or function you would recommend for calculating confidence intervals for regression coefficients in quasipoisson models calculated using glm? The intervals need to be simultaneous across several alternative models.
I know this is both a statistics and an R question, but I'm guessing some of you know about these things.
Thanks,
Eileen

complex subscript/superscript on axis labels
Hi All,
I am having trouble getting a complex subscript to work. I'm sure it's
possible. Here is what I have:
ylab=expression(paste("log ",L[peak]," [erg ",s^{-1},"]")),
I would like to have the subscript read "peak, gamma" where the gamma
would be the greek symbol. I do want the comma to show as well.
Thanks,
EM

Missing Emails
I reported a problem with disappearing emails on my Apple Mountain Lion server. Not sure if it ever stopped but I do know it is happening again.
Help!!!! This is a company email server. They live and die by their emails.
Emails show up in inbox and then disappear.
Anyone know why our emails are disappearing?
I see a reference to it in the dovecot.index.cache file (last item)

libdbi-ruby now?
Ruby 1.8.4 from the c4 testing repo is doing fine so far.
But now I need libdbi-ruby.
I don't see that in any of my usual repos or in c4 testing and it does
not seem to be rubygem'able.
Any pointers?
Thanks,
Steve

Vorbis on a TI C6713
Hi all,
What are the steps to get Vorbis running on a TI C6713? I know I should use
the floating point code, but am unsure what files I should compile in Code
Composer Studio. Specificially, I am using the TMS320C6713 to receive Vorbis
through a manufactured UART Daughter Card and output raw audio through its
audio jack.
Thanks for your help,

[PATCH]: xl: fix broken cpupool-numa-split
Hi,
the implementation of xl cpupool-numa-split is broken. It basically
deals with only one poolid, but there are two to consider: the one from
the original root CPUpool, the other from the newly created one.
On my machine the current output looks like:
root@dosorca:/data/images# xl cpupool-numa-split
libxl: error: libxl.c:2803:libxl_create_cpupool Could not create cpupool
error on creating

forcing levelplot to use relative cuts (ie cuts for each panel)
Dear guRus,
I'm having trouble producing a levelplot with relative cuts for each
panel (my data has large differences in scales, so I want to use
quantiles for each panel).
My attempts to change the 'at' argument in panel.levelplot function
have not met with success.
Below is a toy example.
xy <- expand.grid(x = 1:3, y = 1:3)
aaa <- rbind(cbind(xy, z = 1:9, site =

Ruby on Rails: Up and Running: Rough Cuts Version
Anyone read the rough cuts of this book? I''m interested in checking it
out because Bruce Tate''s work is always great. How does it compare to
the agile books (2nd edition) in terms of timeliness, difficulty, etc.
Thanks!
Nathan

TF2 cuts to Virtual Desktop repeatedly in game
For a few frames every roughly 250, it cuts to a distorted shot of my virtual desktop. If I'm not using one, i get distorted colors. Everything works fine, using a Radeon HD 3400 series with Catalyst 10.4. In XP compatibility mode, fullscreen, 1280x800. Would reducing the resolution help?
Also, I'm using 1.2 rc 1.

samba cuts temporary files from users
Hi guys
I would like to comment a problem using samba 3.3.2 inside my windows
domain. I have different shared folders, and users detect when opens a file,
every time that goes to save it, appears message "file is using by other
application" and can't save it If not await 5 minutes more or less. It
generates a lot of temporary files (actually 912) producing false errors and

levelplot behaviour when "at" cuts the z range
Consider the following examples:
library(lattice)
x = c(1,1,2,2)
y = c(1,2,1,2)
z = 1:4
levelplot(z~x+y,at=c(.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5)) # correct
levelplot(z~x+y,at=c(.5, 1.5, 2.5)) # ?
The second plot is clearly incorrect. However, I don't know
what correct behaviour is: ignore everything above 2.5 and
issue a warning? Reject at values that do not cover the
data range, and issue an

'cuts' option in levelplot()
Hi All,
Does anyone knows what exactly "cuts=some number" (say 15) does in lattice's
levelplot(). I doubt this but does it uses cut() internally, something like
cut(z, 15)?
Thanks,
Gurmeet

verbose_proctitle cuts dsync to proctitle to "dsyn"
Hi Timo,
little cosmetic bug report:
using "verbose_proctitle = yes" shortens the proctitle of dsync to just
"dsyn".
Example:
Note the whitespace instead of the 'c' in the proctitle:
