Write-up on RoR + XUL Sample
Hi Folks, Just a quick message saying that, after much demand, I wrote a quick write-up for the RoR + XUL thing I did yesterday: http://www.zedshaw.com/blog/programming/ruby_xul.html It lays out the few simple things I did, has a bit of rant on an unrelated topic, and other stuff but it''s short still. On a related note, I''d like to thank "xal" on IRC for reminding

YubNub makes Slashdot
Way to go YubNub! It''ll be interesting to see: 1) What so many people have to say and 2) How your rails app holds up to the slashdotting. Great work!

RoR from a Plone perspective?
Hey all, Curious if there are any developers out there who have used Plone and are in the process of moving the RoR? I am in need of a rather large CMS soon, and right now it seems to be use Plone or MuraveyWeb, both of which would require extensive customization. While I love RoR, Plone is definitely more mature and well rounded and has more features. The problem of course is it''s not

kernel crash
Hi all, I'm having a bit of a problem with a CentOS box. It ocasionally crashes/freezes. I configured to send all kernel logging to a remote box so I've been able to catch one kernel crash: May 12 15:34:18 ioana.slack.i kernel: ------------[ cut here ]------------ May 12 15:34:18 ioana.slack.i kernel: kernel BUG at arch/i386/kernel/ldt.c:46! hardlink bug in 2.6.4?
The background: I host one of the unofficial slackware mirrors & push to a high speed (unlisted) mirror that several other unofficials use for pulls. To save time/disk/bandwidth I use a custom script to hardlink the trees prior to pushing the updates to said unlisted mirror. The commandline (linewrap from hell, sorry): (note: username/password/hostname/modulename deliberately obfuscated)

Fwd: RFC: Moving toward Discord and Discourse for LLVM's discussions
Slack's community moderation features are pretty terrible - it's simply not set up for managing public-facing communities; it's set up for managing private workplace team collaboration.  The best way to try to explain the features which are missing are to look at something like the Matrix moderation guide (https://matrix.org/docs/guides/moderation/); many of these features are

Adding a slack for communication?
The archival process of the mailing list makes searching for past issues possible. Slack, and irc in general, is a more closed garden than a public archived mailing list. That said, irc/slack is good for immediate interaction between people, say, gluster user with a nightmare and a knowledgeable developer with deep understanding and willingness to assist. If there's a way to make a

WMP mp3 stream trouble
Hello everyone, I made a big effort to provide an mp3 stream on my site to please the unenlightened masses, and then I see in my logs that it doesn't work in Windows Media Player. Doh! There's no Windows machine around to test on so if anyone could help me out, I'd be very grateful. I couldn't find anything in the list's archive or on the web in general, sorry. Details:

Adding a slack for communication?
It's great idea! :) But think about creating Slack for all RedHat provided opensource projects. For example one Slack workspace with separated Gluster, Ceph, Fedora etc. channels. I can't wait for it! Bartosz On 08.11.2017 22:22, Amye Scavarda wrote: > From today's community meeting, we had an item from the issue queue: > https://github.com/gluster/community/issues/13

Problem in accessing bucket of my AWS S3 account
I tried to establish connection to my aws s3 account like this in my irb console - AWS::S3::Base.establish_connection!(:access_key_id => ''my access key'', :secret_access_key => ''my secret key'', :server => " s3-ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com") And it works well and prompt this - => #<AWS::S3::Connection:0x8cd86d0
