fold right - recursive list (vector) operators
The programming language mosml comes with foldr that 'accumulates' a function f over a list [x1,x2,...,xn] with initial value b as follows foldr f b [x1,x2,...,xn] = f(x1,...,f(xn-1,f(xn,b))...) Observe that "list" should have same elements so in R terminology it would perhaps be appropriate to say that the accumulation takes place over a 'vector'. I wonder if R

solving cubic/quartic equations non-iteratively
To R-helpers, R offers the polyroot function for solving mentioned equations iteratively. However, Dr Math and Mathworld (and other places) show in detail how to solve mentioned equations non-iteratively. Do implementations for R that are non-iterative and that solve mentioned equations exists? Regards, Mads Jeppe

Winbind causes LLOONNGG delays
I have Samba 3.0.4 joined to a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain with about 16,000 users and 1,000 groups. I run FreeBSD 5.2.1 on a Dell PowerEdge 1750, dual proc P4 Xeon with HTT and 1 gig of RAM. Storage is RAID-5, three drives, 36G each. I use winbind to auth users when accessing shares on the server. This is going to be our new fileserver. Check this: # time ps auxwww | grep http root

SSH hanging
Hi, We installed OBSD's ssh package on production and find our batch jobs are hanging on the "ssh" command. The details are included below, for both normal and "hanging" executions. Please let me know if this is a new or existing bug or if you require further info to debug this. The command was executed with the highest debug level (-v -v -v for level 3). This script

[REGRESSION] system does not resume from ram due to commit "drm/nv50/fifo: prevent races between clients updating playlists"
My NV96 does not resume from suspend to ram (the screen stays black, magic sysrq keys do work) with the current linus git kernel, i bisected it to the following commit. drm/nv50/fifo: prevent races between clients updating playlists b5096566f6e1ee2b88324772f020ae9bc0cfa9a0 It's not obvious to me how this causes problems, but reverting this commit does solve my problem. -- Far away from the

[PATCH] nv50/gallium: submit user vbufs through the fifo
Mesa sometimes hands us large user buffers where only a few vertices are read from in the drawing calls before they change again. In such cases, allocating a new buffer from the kernel and copying all the data takes much too long, so this patch uses NV50TCL_VERTEX_DATA to push vertices on the FIFO, which speeds up e.g. nexuiz quite a lot. Additionally it gets rid of the issue that the card
