Hi all, I have thousands of strings like these ones: "1159_1; YP_177963; PPE FAMILY PROTEIN" "1100_13; SECRETED L-ALANINE DEHYDROGENASE ALD CAA15575" "1141_24; gi;2894249;emb;CAA17111.1; PROBABLE ISOCITRATE DEHYDROGENASE" and various others.. I'm interested to extract the code for the protein (in this example: YP_177963, CAA15575, CAA17111). I

labels outside plotting region
Hello, I've just started R, and I'm getting a bit mad using it. I've managed to produce a barplot with the labels for the ytick marks placed horizontally (perpendicular to the y-axis) usiing par(las=1). The problem is that most of my labels are in part beyond the plotting area because they are rather long (e.g. "H. sapiens", "D. melanogaster" ...). What is the

Help with the lumi R package
Hi all, My name is Amy, I am a masters student in Bioinformatics at North Carolina State University. I am working on a project and I am trying to use the lumi R package for microarray data analysis. I have shown the sample code here and have questions about modifying the sample code for my own data. lumi package in R, example.lumi, the sample data has 8000 features and 4 samples I have

swapping rows with columns
Hello, I've read in a data file as a frame and now I'd like the columns to be rows and the rows to be columns. What's the easiest way to do this in R? > class(d) [1] "data.frame" > rownames(d) [1] "98x101" "40x98" "30x40" "0x30" > colnames(d) [1] "H..sapiens" "C..elegans"

write.table: strange output has been produced
Good afternoon all - While making a steady progress in learning R after Matlab I encountered a problem which seems to require some extra help to move over. Basically I want to merge a data from biological statistical dataset with annotation data extracted from another dataset using an 'id' crossreference and write it to report file. The first part goes absolutely fine, I have merged both

Queue don't call Interface PJSIP
Hi Joshua, thanks for answer. In this particular test my extension is on a simple network. There is no NAT, just an asterisk running on a virtual machine on a 7- 64bit CentOs. I am simulating an environment to be able to use PJSIP on my client. And even in this small environment, my extension does not call. My problem with NAT was with SIP "one way audio" on a client. All of this

Queue don't call Interface PJSIP
Hello. I am having a lot of problems with SIP through NAT. So, I decided to adopt PJSIP. However, I am not able to make the extensions ring when receiving a call from the queue. I'm using telnet to include the extension and on the asterisk console, it even shows Called PJSIP/6001, but the extension doesn't ring. If I call from extension to extension, it works normally. telenet:

is there a way to extract fata from web pages through some R function ?
I deal with a huge amount of Biology data stored in different databases. The databases belongig to Bioconductor organization can be accessed through Bioconductor packages. Unluckily some useful data is stored in databases like, for instance, miRDB, miRecords, etc ... which offer just an interactive HTML interface. See for instance http://mirdb.org/cgi-bin/search.cgi,

Improving loop performance
R-users, I have the following piece of code which I am trying to run on a dataframe (aga2) with about a half million records.  While the code works, it is extremely slow.  I've read some of the help archives indicating that I should allocate space to the p1 and ags1 vectors, which I have done, but this doesn't seem to improve speed much.  Would anyone be able to provide me with advice on

how to map microarray probe to gene, homology
Hi: I have clustered microarray gene expression data and trying to map between microarray probe, gene, pathway, gene ontology, and homology for a set of (affy) microarray probes. Is there any package in R which facilitates this? I am looking at bioconductor, but till now could not find a solution. A link to some worked example would be appreciated. Thanks and regards.
