smbcacls syntax eludes me (perhaps)
(Is this the right place to post such question?)
I can't seem to grasp the right syntax for smbcacls
This is a 306rc2, security=user system w/ passwords set via
smbpasswd, and smbclient gives expected r/w behavior.I've seen the
same on a 302a security=domain or ads system (I believe), which is why
I think I'm misinterpreting something (or is smbcacls broken??)

The case for freezing CRAN
This has been a fascinating discussion.
Carl Boettinger replied with a set of examples where the world is much more fragile than
my examples. That was useful. It seems that people in my area (medical research and
survival) are more careful with their packages (whew!).
Gabor Csardi discussed the problems with maintaining a package with lots of dependencies.

No subject
When run by root, smbpasswd accesses the local smbpasswd file
directly, thus enabling changes to be made even if smbd is not
running. (and not in the client server mode it does a normal user)
And this may be the difference when using smbpasswd on the unix promt
to change root's smb and unix password. Which isn't working for me
and I think it's good this way.

ADMIN$ share? What's this
Hi,
I recently did a update form 2.0.7 to 2.2.3a. All run smooth. When
doing a "smbclient -L server" I now see a ADMIN$ share. What's this,
what is it for?
Thanks
Christian

Passenger-Rack error 500: no such file to load -- rack
I have a puppetmaster running within passenger+rack. It has been running
properly for almost a year and decided to stop working on the weekend. Now
I''m getting the Purple "Ruby (Rack) application could not be started"
screen with
Error: no such file to load -- rack
Application: /data1/rack/puppetmaster
The backtrace is uninspiring. Snippets include:

Gluster freezing
In my case, one of the brick( I use distributed replication) is gone in zombie status,
The file system is just like freezing
For ping test with bricks, it looks like it's up and running ( Using gluster brick status, it looks like connected )
But when I try to log into that brick thru sshd, it failed with time out.
In that situation, Gluster is freezing.

freeze_gems not freezing all gems?
Hi,
I am currently experimenting on rake freeze_gems and there is something
I do not understand.
When I freeze_gems my app, it puts Rails in the /vendor/ directory,
which works. But what about all other gems I have installed (for example
Unicode, sqlite support, mysql support and so on)?
The aim of freezing is to be independant of the versions of the ISP, but
it seems that the server still

Docker versus Vagrant for reproducability - was: The case for freezing CRAN
Vagrant and packer look like the could be useful to developers,
especially when testing, as they make it relatively painless to
'reinstall' a machine to a (mostly) known state. I find that, no
matter how hard I try, there always seem to be a few keystrokes that
don't make it into the changelog, and recreating from scratch is how I
find them. Thanks for pointing them out.

Polycom 650 freezing on Transfer
All,
Has anyone experienced a problem with the Polycom 650 phone freezing
when you try to do a transfer?
I am running asterisk 1.2.20.1 with Polycom SIP version 2.1.1.0052 and
boot rom version 3.2.3.0002.
I have Polycom 501 phones that work perfectly with the same software
versions. The 650 phone; when I hit transfer the caller is placed on
hold and the phone is still operational. As
