Draw Polygon with a Circular Side
Hello Friends!!! I would want draw a circular histogram, and I would like draw a polygon with a circular side. This is easy if I use the functions polygon and arc, but I want that the polygon with a circular side have background colour. The polygon created with function polygon can have background colour, but the surface created with function arc can?t have background colour. How I could create a

Windrose Percent Interval Frequencies Are Non Linear! Help!
Hi All - I have been using the windrose function found in the circular library to create great looking windroses.  But the dashed, circular percent interval lines that indicate the frequency at which each "pedal" occurs are not evenly spaced (the corresponding parameter is "cir.ind").  That is, the 5% interval closest to the heart of the windrose is wider than the 5-10 chuck,

windrose color ramp issue
Greetings! I'm having an issue with the windrose produced by the windrose function from the circular package. For our weather stations in North Carolina I'm helping with a script which takes hourly wind speed and direction data to create windroses for our end users. One of the stations in the mountains frequently reaches wind speed of 40 to 60 mph and in storms can reach wind speed over

windrose (circular package) error in table (PR#8341)
Full_Name: Allyson Williams Version: 2.1.1 OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (203.25.1.208) I'm using the 'Circular' package to plot windroses. I think the output table (see out2$table below) is incorrect when using different rotations. More precisely, when a rotation is used for the plot, the output table stuffs up. This example is from the code in the help notes, although the

representing wind date using windrose
hello, i am new to R and want to use it for a small project to draw a wind data from a microclimate datasource, can someone give me an example of how i can represent this in a neat way? for example, i have: speed, direction 0.3,NNE 0.45,NNE 0.32,NE 0.28,N 0.30,NE how do i put this data to get a windrose graph? many thanks norman -- %>>> "".join( [

Rose plot (like a windrose)
Dear R Gurus, I spent some time in looking for help but didn't find a way to do what I want. I do have a vector (in Degrees) containing of 360 elements, one element per degree on a circle. The data is dimensionless and in the range of -0.2 to 0.5. An Example: Wind Dir [degrees], Value 1, 0.1 2 , 0.3 3 , 0.01 .,. .,. 180,-0.01 181,-0.2 .,. .,. .,. 359,.0.3 360,.0.5 Now I want to have

Wind-data analysis with R?
Hello, are there people outside who use R for analysis of wind-measurement data (meteorological or for planning of wind power stations)? Are there already scripts/modules available for analysing and displaying/plotting wind data in the way it is done in projection/planning of wind power stations? If not, would it be of interest to use R for this, and therefore adapt data-logger output to R (by

deSolve: Problem solving ODE including modulo-operator
I have a problem integrating the 'standard map' ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_map http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_map ) with deSolve: By using the modulo-operator '%%' with 2*pi in the ODEs (standardmap1), the resulting values of P and Theta, should not be greater than 2pi. Because this was not the case, i was thinking that the function 'ode' has some

manual construction of box&whisker plot
Dear useRs, how can I construct a box&whisker plot based on the vector "fivenum"? The challenge I face is as follow: I have a table such as x | fivenum --------------- ... | (.....) ... | (.....) and so forth.... For each observation x I have generated a vector containing the fivenum estimates. The first challenge is to group my fivenum vectors into groups based on a

Summary vs fivenum results for Q3
I've just started using R and am still a neophyte, but I found the following curious result. I'm using the current version of R (2.5.1 (2007-06-27) ). Why are the results for the third quartile different in the output from the summary and fivenum commands? For the following data set 457 514 530 530 538 560 687 745 745 778 786 790 792

selecting columns from a data frame or data table by type, ie, numeric, integer
Good morning RGuru's I have a data frame of 575 columns.? I want to extract only those columns that are numeric(double) or integer to do some machine learning with.? I have searched the web for a couple of days (off and on) and have not found anything that shows how to do this.?? Lots of ways to extract rows, but not columns.? I have attempted to use "(x == y)" indices extraction

Calculating distance between longitude, latitude of 2 points
Hi all, I would like to know a way of calculating the distance between 2 points when I already have the longitude and latitude of the points. For example : Point 1 : 52? 9'54.00"N 4?25'8.40"E Point 2 : 52?27'46.80"N 4?33'18.00"E Distance between point 1 and point in km .... Is there any functions already available for this ? Any help will be much

Generating time progressing line for Google Earth
Dear, I am trying to visualise a time-progressing line (it's supposed to represent spread patterns) using brew package and Google Earth. The idea is to have a function which takes start and end point geographic coordinates, as well as number of intervals to chop the path up, and returns the collection of points segmenting this line. Unfortunately my calculations fail for large distances,

seq.Date not accepting NULL length.out (PR#9239)
There seems to be a bug in seq.Date such that it will not allow the user to pass in length.out =3D NULL, despite the fact that this is the = default argument. For example: > dt1 <- as.Date("2004-12-31") > dt2 <- as.Date("2005-12-31") > seq.Date(dt1, dt2, length.out =3D NULL, by =3D "month") Error in seq.Date(dt1, dt2, length.out =3D NULL, by =3D

Interpolation of azimuth values
Hello I will make an interpolation of data which represents azimuth direction ( angle from north in clockwise direction) values. But there is a problem. Say, for instance, while 1 and 359 indicate somewhat same direction, interpolation puts values in the range from 1 to 359. What can I do to solve the problem ? Anything you offer ? thanks in advance Ahmet Temiz General Directory of
