Hi List, I have spent more than 30 minutes, but failed to read in this file using the read.table() function. I could not figure out how to fix the following error. Error in scan(file, what, nmax, sep, dec, quote, skip, nlines, na.strings, : line 1 did not have 6 elements Any help would be be appreciated. Sporadic errors when training models using CARET
Hi. I am trying to construct a svmLinear model using the "caret" package (see code below). Using the same data, without changing any setting, sometimes it constructs the model successfully, and sometimes I get an index out of bounds error. Is this unexpected behaviour? I would appreciate any insights this issue. Thanks. ~Kendric > train.y [1] S S S S R R R R R R R R R R R R R R R

missing level of a nested factor results in an NA in lm output
Hello All, I have posted to this list before regarding the same issue so I apologize for the multiple e-mails. I am still struggling with this issue so I thought I'd give it another try. This time I have included reproducible code and a subset of the data I am analyzing. I am running an ANOVA with three factors: GROUP (5 levels), FEATURE (2 levels), and PATIENT (2 levels), where

Mixed Design ANOVA - singular error model
Dear r-help list, I would like to run a mixed design anova to compare the results from one population sample to another. Here my within subject variable (stiulusID) has 45 levels and my between subject variable (group) has two levels. In addition to my number of levels in the within subject variable being very large, one other 'feature' of my data is that it is not balanced on the between

Wald test and frailty models in coxph
Dear R members, I am new in using frailty models in survival analyses and am getting some contrasting results when I compare the Wald and likelihood ratio tests provided by the r output. I am testing the survivorship of different sunflower interspecific crosses using cytoplasm (Cyt), Pollen and the interaction Cyt*Pollen as fixed effects, and sub-block as a random effect. I stratified

Manova and contrasts
Hi R-users I'm trying to do multivariate analysis of variance of a experiment with 3 treatments, 2 variables and 5 replicates. The procedure adopted in SAS is as follow, but I'm having difficulty in to implement the contrasts for comparison of all treatments in R. I have already read manuals and other materials about manova in R, but nothing about specific contrasts were found in them,

4. Rexcel (Luis Felipe Parra)-how to run a code from excel
Hi Louis, It's simple to run a r script from the excel spreadsheet. Just write your code, source("C:\\Quantil Aplicativos\\Genercauca\\BackwardSelectionNC.r"), into a cell of a workingsheet. Then right-click the cell and select "run code" in the pop-up menu. Hope this will help you. Best, Bernard -----????----- ???: r-help-bounces at r-project.org [mailto:r-help-bounces
