using identify() with scatterplot3d()
Dear all
I am running R 1.4.1 on a Linux box. I have tried to label data points
in a 3-d scatterplot, but without much success. What I did was as
follows:
> scatterplot3d(x, y, z)
> identify(x, y, z, row.names(Data))
When I tried to click on/near the data points, I either receive this
msg:
warning: no point with 0.25 inches,
or some numbers in Data, not the row names, come up on the

scatterplot3d fine tuning
I have a 3D scatterplot and would like to change the displayed range along the y-axis.
for instance suppose I have:
x = seq(0.2,0.7,0.01)
y = seq(0.4,0.9,0.01)
z = runif(51)
scatterplot3d(x,y,z,xlim=c(0.2,0.7),ylim=c(0.4,0.9),zlim=c(0,1))
But would like the y-axis to read: 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, blank, blank, 1.0
Is there a way to issue an "axis" statement in the scatterplot3d?

plane3d
I am attempting to fit a logistic regression plane to a 3-D scatterplot
(which was generated using scatterplot3d). I've noticed that the help
pages of scatterplot3d include a function titled "plane3d." However,
when I attempt to use the function, I get the following message:
Error: couldn't find function "plane3d"

Plotting separate populations in scatterplot3d
Hi,
I'm having trouble plotting populations as separate colors and points in the
3d scatterplot package. I have a column with 4 different population names
and 3 columns with my data. I want to plot each population with a different
color and pch. In addition, I want to use the type="h" in my plotting so
that I can see the points clearly in my graph( for publication purposes).

persp/ scatterplot3d
Dear WizaRds,
I would like to create a 3d-plot with persp(). I sampled 17 points
with xyz-coordinates (real-life example!), representing the peaks of the
whole plane with "zero coordinates" x=3,y=3,z=3. My intention is to show
which entries are above or below the "zero" level with persp() on a
nicely created grid. I also tried scatterplot3d(), but, alas, I am
unable

scatterplot3d: how to show scatterpoints in 2D-space with color as 3rd dimension?
Dear Colleagues:
I have 3 numeric variables (say x, y, z) in a data.frame and want to draw a 2D-scatterplot with the 3rd dimension as color, if possible without having to convert the whole thing to an appropiate matrix for image() manually.
Can e.g. scatterplot3d do something like this? There's a function xyz.convert, but I couldn't find the way to use it properly.
Sincerly,

4D stacked column chart, Excel -> R
Hi All.
I'd like to programm a 4 dimensional chart in R.
Acctually I wanted to solve that problem in Excel cause I had the data there.
Here is a link of my actual problem description (there are some chart pictures as well)....
http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewtopic.php?t=187336&highlight=stacked+column
because I still couldn't solve that problem I came to R.
The chart should be

map points from scatterplot3d onto 2d fitted plane
Dear R helpers,
I have a 3D scatter plot that I have generated from scatterplot3d (which
looks great- thanks!) and I can see that the points in my graph fall in a
plane.
Following the example 5 from 3D scatter plot (below) I have fitted a
regression plane.
Now what I would like to do is a rotation so that my new co-ordinate system
is about the fitted plane (by finding the normal to the plane

persp plot + plotting grid lines
Dear all;
Does anyone know how to add grid lines to a persp plot? I've tried
using lines(trans3d..) but the lines of course are superimposed into
the actual 3d surface and what I need is something like the plot shown
in the following link:
http://thermal.gg.utah.edu/tutorials/matlab/matlab_tutorial.html
I'll appreciate any ideas
Thanks

3d scatterplot with error bars
Is there anyway to produce a 3D scatterplot with error bars in the x,y,z
directions? I have searched around and know of scatterplot3d but did
not see any way to put error bars on the points. Any ideas?

3d scatterplots of more than 1 data set
hi,
i am need to plot two or more sets of data in a 3d scatterplot,
each set with different color.
i tried Rcmdr, and the 3d scatterplot facility, based on rgl. that
is what i need. but i cannot seem to code different sets of data
differently. any help will be very helpful.
i tried scatterplot3d, but it is difficult to get the right angle in
it. i need to be able to rotate the axes, and

3D scatterplot, using size of symbols for the fourth variable
Dear R fans,
I would like to create a scatterplot showing the relationship between 4
continuous variables. I thought of using the package "scatterplot 3d" to
have a 3-dimensional plot and then using the size of the symbols to
represent the 4th variable.
Does anybody know how to do this?
I already tried to create this graph using the colour of the symbols, but I
was unable to generate

3dscatter for linux
Hi, do you have any suggestions how to make 3D scatterplot, BUT under linux.
Worth mentioning is the fact that 'scatterplot3d' does not load under Ubuntu
8.10.
Do you know any alternatives?? I tried cloud or persp but X,Y and Z axes are
emprical in my case, and cannot be replaced by any seq(...).
Thanks in advance, robert

Labelling individual points on 3D PCA scatterplot
Hi There,
I'm attempting to plot 10 values on a three-dimensional PCA with text labels
next to each point. While i have no trouble doing this on 2D plots using the
'text' or 'textxy' function, I cannot find a function to do this on a 3D
plot.
I am using princomp for my PCA:
>PCA<-princomp(eucdata, cor=TRUE)
>PCA$scores [,1:3] # the three principal components i

persp(), scatterplot3d(), "..." argument
Hello list.
I very often need 3d scatterplots, and use scatterplot3D quite a lot.
I am trying to modify persp() to plot scatterplots, and make use of
the theta and phi arguments that persp() offers. I am having some
difficulty passing the correct arguments to persp().
Here is my function so far. Much of it is copied from the persp() manpage.

Drape 3D scatterplot
Hi,
*Warning: R newb here. *
I've got a 3D scatterplot (
http://www.fleetwoodswoodworks.com/scatterPlot.jpg) which I want to drape
in color, with the draped plane corresponding to the mean z values on the
plot (similar to: http://www.fleetwoodswoodworks.com/draped3Dscatterplot.jpg).
Does anyone know what package will allow me to do this? I used *

Question of programming style
This is really a question of how to program this *BETTER*. It works as I have
done it, but is quite ugly.
I want to do a 3d scatterplot of the upper triangle of a matrix, where the
z-values are the values in the matrix, and the row and column indices are the y-
and x-values. The complete (11 by 11) matrix is mmtop94.2. Here is my awkward
code:
