Hi,
I am trying to make my own package in Windows XP with R 1.9.1. using
Rcmd build/ Rcmd.
The initial Rcmd build compiles ok with no error messages. However, when
I run Rcmd check it runs ok up until
* checking for file 'GammaTest/DESCRIPTION' ... OK
* checking if this is a source package ... OK

Autoconf / Windows package building problem for device package
Dear list,
Tadashi Kadowaki has developed a pdf device package
that allows to add hyperlinks and popups
to (currently) text, mtext and rect calls.
The package passes R CMD check (minor warnings) and compiles
on MacOS X and GNU/Linux, but we do not succeed in building
the package for Windows.
The current version of the package can be
checked out as

'cygpath -d' to fix windows paths with spaces
The cygwin 'cygpath' command can now convert arbitrary windows and unix
paths into the short ms-dos 8.3 equivalents. This tools might allow the
windows build system to better deal with those messy long Windows file and
directory names that contain spaces.
EG:
warneg@GRDGROL99X1028: src [1]$ pwd
/cygdrive/c/Documents and Settings/WarnesGR/My
Documents/cygwin_home/src/gregmisc/src

inline/Rcpp: Problem with space in path under Windows
I am trying to run inline/Rcpp under Windows 64. The RTools are installed on
a spaceless path D:\rtools.
Inlining pure c-code works perfectly. When I try the sample code for cpp in
the cxx Documentation, I get:
x86_64-w64-mingw32-g++.exe: C:/Program: No such file or directory
The path to the compiler is correct. Obviously there is some problem with
the space in C:/Program (Files).
Any ideas

For the first time I have a strange behaviour when checking a package

building a package under windows
Hi,
I have a package of my own which seems to work fine under linux.
I want to make a compiled version for windows.
(I work with windows 2000 and R 2.0)
I have followed the steps described in the file
readme.packages (in the top-level directory of the binary installation)
and I had a trouble at this step (which aim is not documented):
C:\Program Files\R\rw2000\src\gnuwin32>make libR.a

r-square for non-linear regression
We have extracted parameters from physiological measurements by fitting
SSlogis-like curves with nlsList and nlme.
We presented residuals plot in a paper, but a referee argues that these
cannot be included (too technical), and r-square values should be given
instead to compare the goodness of fit with those of other authors.
I remember that 30 years ago in my stat 101, I learned that r-square is

Remove columns by name data[-c("subj","drug")]
Is there an easy way to remove data frame columns
by name instead of by index? The following gives
the idea
remove<-c("subj","drug")
data[-remove]
I found a solution with a few evals and substitutes,
similar to that used in reshapeLong, but there must
be an easier way out.

Hi Dieter,
Sorry my mistake. I wanted to convert them
into Decimal (not Hexadecimal).
Given this string, the desired answer follows:

79 82 81 62 73 75
> ascii_str2 <- "FDC"

Psychometric curves, two altnerative force choice, glm, and budbworms
Dear R-Listers,
to measure the psychometric curve of pitch discrimination, one sequentially
presents two tones of slightly different pitch to an observer (animal will
do), and asks "which is higher". The pschometric curve is the fraction of
correct responses plotted against the pitch difference. It passes through
50% (pure guessing) at zero and normally approaches 100% at large

tkcanvas/bitmap for Turtle World
To represent a turtle inside a canvas (tcltk package), I have a serie of

representing the turtle heading in different directions and I would like
to display the one that corresponds to the current direction of the turtle

I have created with Paint a bitmap representing the turtle in BMP format
and succeeded displaying it on canvas after converting it into XBM format
