Needed files from WIN dist. [BEFORE: Windows Installation under WINE]
I think everyone misunderstood me. I'm not trying to set up windows to start using windows in Linux like with VMWare. Why would anyone want to do that. My problem is the fact that I need some files from MS-Windows to be able to run some programs in WINE. Like I need regedit.exe and other programs in the windows distibution. I see that most people copy the c:\windows\ directory from a

strange phenomenon on CPU affinity
Hello, My testing machine has 2 quad-core CPU (It supports hyperthreading, but i disable it in BIOS). I uses Xen 4.0.1 as the hypervisor. When I use 8 VMs to conduct a test, CPU affinity of the VMs is very strange. Like this: vm_name vcpu_num cpu_affinity Domain-0 8 any VM1 4 1,3,5,7 VM2 4 1,3,5,7 VM3 4 1,3,5,7 VM4 4

Filling in a uniform dist plot
Hi all, Apologies in advance if this is really too simple, but I have given a good shot at this. I'm generating a standard uniform distibution y <- dunif(x) plot(x,y,type="l") This will draw a horizontal line at y = 1. I want to fill the area from x=(0,1) with a color. I've tried the polygon command to create a polygon of the same shape, but can't seem to set the

Boot Failed: please change disks...
I had to create a single floppy image holding the kernel and initrd of SuSe8.0 distibution. When I boot the computer, it first loads the kernel, and starts loading the initrd. After a short while it halts saying ?Boot Failed: please change disks and press a key to continue.? The floppy image is served by a PXE server, so I am not sure if the problem I am facing has anything to do with ?bad

Problems with predict.lm: incorrect SE estimate (PR#7772)
Full_Name: Marek Ancukiewicz Version: 2.01 OS: Linux Submission from: (NULL) (132.183.12.87) It seems that the the standard error of prediction of the linear regression, caclulated with predict.lm is incorrect. Consider the following example where the standard error is first calculated with predict.lm, then using delta method. and finally, using the formula rms*sqrt(1+1/n+(xp-x0)^2/Sxx). Marek

Bug#733865: xen-utils-4.3: qemu-dm is not executable: No such file or directory
Package: xen-utils-4.3 Version: 4.3.0-3+b1 Severity: normal When I try to create an HVW withDevian/xen, I run into trouble. It used to work, maybe with xen 4.1, but it has never worked since. Bug 688311 was filed, with the same exact problem. That bug was somehow closed and no resolution or explanation was provided. I have seen posts mentioning "traditional" and "upstream"

mounting samba shares on linux with non-ascii dirs
Hi! I've just searching the list archives but cannot solve my problem with mounting samba (v3.0) shares back on linux (RH 8.0 and 9). Mounting on Win clients works fine and any filenames (including long names with non-ascii chars and spaces) are perfictly supported and accessed. Mounting the share back on (even the same) linux box is a complex task. I use: mount -t smbfs -o guest

MANOVA / Hotelling's Test
Hi everybody ... I have to perform Hotteling's T^2 Test - more generally a MANOVA - on a set of data. Is there a (simple?) possibility to do it in R? The somewhat obvious way to do it would be > summary(aov(Y ~ x1 + x2 ... + xn)) where Y would be a two-column matrix. But this does not work in any possible combination of matrix or factor dimensions! Is it principally not possible
