Browsercam.com Annual Membership
I have been using browsercam.com for CSS testing, but it is rather
expensive. Recently, I discovered others using funadable.org to
purchase a yearly membership as a group.
A year long membership at browsercam.com costs $480.00. This gives us
25 user accounts. I am proposing that 25 people throw in $19.20 for
their 1/25th share of the membership cost. Once I have raised $479.40

Instance methods in runner?
I am having a devil of a time with some runner actions.
I can not seem to call any instance methods on found records.
Even when I strip is down to the basics:

self.find(:all, :conditions => ["#{Message.table_name}.status
= ?", ''pending''], :include => [:site, :template]).each {|m|

[INFO] SMS Aggregators
Awhile ago, I posted some information about SMS Aggregators, this is
just a follow-up, based on changes in the US market.
As of January 31st, any commercial application, sending to US
networks, is required to lease a CSC (short code) from CTIA.
A CSC runs $6000/year for a random code, and $12,000/year for a
vanity code.
These charges are on top of the normal per message fees.
This does

Possible Rails Security Issue?
I have an e-commerce site and users check out with a form. The
results of that form are sent to a "confirm your order" page via
POST. I take great pains to NEVER store the full credit card number
on my server--just the last 4 digits. I was very surprised to find
that by default Rails will record POST requests with parameters in
the production.log. And those parameters

Net::SMS::BulkSMS 0.1
This is the first release of a new Ruby library for the
www.bulksms.co.ukAPI which should allow simple integration of SMS
functionality into your
Ruby or Rails apps.
Sending a message is as simple as:
@service = Service.new(''username'', ''password'')
@service.send_message(''This is my message!'', ''4479123456789'')

Grouping with tags or joins?
This more of a best practices question.
I''m implementing group functionality in a couple of applications.
The typical method, using HABTM, where you create a group and add
members, is typical.
For example, Users, Groups and Messages.
Does anyone prefer tagging instead?
Any advice would be great!

Frustrating locale setting error
Hi all,
This has been very frustrating for me trying to get this acts_as_ferret
working well on a Fedora box. On my mac it works great, no problems with
locale, but when I put the code live on my Fedora server, it complains
about the locale setting (Error occured at <analysis.c>:498 Error:

Dell Latitude E5410 doesn't boot my USB thumbnail
Hi there,
I have a 512MB USB thumbnail which I used syslinux to create a bootable
USB disk. It works fine with my old laptop and a few other computers.
However, on my Dell Latitude E5410, it doesn't really work; when the
Dell laptop boots, I pressed F9 to see the boot devices list and the
thumbnail is not on the list.
Some hints please?

Fleximage get a resized thumbnail
I am using for the first time the Fleximage plugin... good, I can upload
and resize images on the fly before storing them.. User has-one Image
I need to get a very small thumbnail to be stored directly into a
tinyblob field of the user record... ,
I know Fleximage is able to produce thumbnails, but regarding
performance I''d prefer to store the thumbnail direcly into the user
record...

Acts as attachment thumbnail problem
Hi there
I am using Acts as attachment to store thumbnails in a file system.
That part works fine :-) Along with my pic form I''m sending other
information and I want to store that information in the thumbnail row
as well as the parent image row... but I can''t figure out how to do
it! The info is stored in the row that contains the original img info
with no problems, but

Attachment_fu ImageScience FreeImage thumbnail quality
I''ve tried migrating acts_as_attachment to attachment_fu (just to see
if I could replace RMagick with ImageScience+FreeImage), but the
quality of the thumbnails is just horrendous, blurred beyond
recognition (downscaling a 1280x1024 to a few considerably smaller
thumbnails).
Changing attachment_fu to use RMagick again and the thumbnails were
crispy sharp again.
I was wondering

Lots of core files from 'gst-thumbnail'
I presently have 17 core.* files in my home directory, all dropped by
'gst-thumbnail'. GDB backtraces are predictably useless, indicating
only that the crash came indirectly from libgsttypefindfunctions.so.
I don't find anything about this in the CentOS bug tracker. Has
anyone else seen a similar problem?
Running "strings" on the core files finds that they all mention

Building libjpeg-turbo with LTO

I have tried to build libjpeg-turbo

both clangbut get many errors in lld that look like the following:

Building libjpeg-turbo with LTO
Adding a couple of lld folks.
I helped Shishir debug this, the link line looked like:
/home/sjessu/build/bin/clang -O0 -flto -o jcstest jcstest.o
./.libs/libjpeg.a
and the issue was that libjpeg.a was created with the system ar instead of
llvm-ar. It worked when recreating libjpeg.a with llvm-ar.
I noticed that the lld code has some special handling for the case
when there is a missing
