WxRuby1 only defines the constant for RichEdit 1.0. From reading MSDN, features of the 2.0 or 3.0 version of this control are superior. I found the constant that enables use of the later version in the style parameter of the constructor: TE_RICH2 = 32768 I think RichEdit2 or 3 is automatically used depending on what is available in the Windows installation.
