dear R-tists, i am experiencing a problem with the data editor in the windows version of R 1.6.1 envoked with the command 'fix'. the data editor changes the size of large data frames. a simple example illustrates this: ------------------------------------------------------- > dfrm <- data.frame(no=c(1:100000)) > length(dfrm[,1]) [1] 100000 > fix(dfrm) >

dovecot 2.2.18 and ssl_parameters_regenerate
HI Timo, On http://wiki2.dovecot.org/SSL/DovecotConfiguration I read in chapter SSL security settings: When Dovecot starts up for the first time, it generates new 512bit and 1024bit Diffie Hellman parameters and saves them into <prefix>/var/lib/dovecot/ssl-parameters.dat. After the initial creation they're by default regenerated every week. With newer computers the generation

STOP PAYING FEDERAL TAXES - LEGALLY!
I down loaded the Acrobat Reader but I still cannot view the form 1192 W-8 Certificate of Foreign Status. Maybe I'm not following the instuctions correctly or something stupid. Can you e-mail me back a copy of this form so I can read it and see how to follow up on federal tax avoidance? I might purchase your product if you can better convince me on how to legally get it done.

YAPQ (Yet Another Patent Question)
Looks like the mpeg gestapo are frantically at work cracking down on mpeg projects. Several important projects (tsunami mpeg, gogo, faac, etc) were shut down by the jack booted patent nazis. Since FhG, mpegla, etc plan to start charging royalties on everything even remotely mpeg-related very soon, I expect a lot of interest is going to shift to Vorbis. And soon thereafter, I expect FhG to attack

Setting up some sort of tax-exempt organization (similar to the FSF) may be useful here. I don't mind chipping in my £1 worth, but getting a tax deduction at the same time would persuade more people to donate, I think.

Re: FhG $15k minimum
When I said I'd pay my £1 worth, I didn't mean it literally. Anyway, the point about larger companies is a good one. Earliers posts talk about if games companies would be willing to give funds to develop ogg, if these donations are tax deductable surely they are much more likely to give. The question is how legal is this? If they are getting direct benift from ogg, can that make tax

Re: FhG $15k minimum
Doesn't the GPL license forbid the codec from being incorporated in commercial products? Or at least have to provide their source for free? If this is the case then I doubt commercial game makers will be interested. Maybe the licence could be changed to allow the decoder to be incorporated in commercial products providing they pay a minimal amount and/or be forced to advertise the fact that
