Question about setting tick mark limits in Plot
Dear R-list,
I am having trouble getting the Plot function to set the tick marks the
way I want, and I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
Below is the code that I wrote, and I am not sure why it doesn't work.
p is a vector of length 2198, containing numbers between 0 and 240. q
is a vector of ones, the same length as p. I want the x-axis to have
tick marks every 30 min and I want the

round() - strange results
Hello,
I found that round() does not behave as I expected.
Have you had similar experience as following?

> round(x)
[1] 0 2 2 4 4 6 6 8 8 10 10
> cbind(x,round(x))

strange strsplit gsub problem 0 is this a bug or a string length limitation?
I was working with the rmetrics portfolioBacktesting function and dug into
the code to try to find why my formula with 113 items, i.e. A1 thru A113,
was being truncated and I only get 85 items, not 113.
Is it due to a string length limitation in R or is it a bug in the strsplit
or gsub functions, or in my string?
I'd very much appreciate any suggestions

Logical test and look up table
Dear R users,
I have a data frame with one column (4000 rows) containing name codes
(factor with 63 levels). I would like to associate each name with a
particular Type (coded as 1,2,3,4,H or H1) in a second column. Is it
possible to do a lookup table of associations (i.e. A23 is of type 1, A13
is of type 3 ...) so as to fill up automatically the $Type column.

long character string problem
Hi All
I am having 2 very long character strings (550chars) and I want to put them as
expressions together with c(). The problem is that I also get these
double-quotes, as seen below in 'fct'. How can I remove these double-quotes? I
tried as.name() but it did not work (because of size?). These are creating
trouble with subsequent programs, which I tested with strings that for some

R-help:
I have a variable ("ID_list") containing about 1800 unique numbers, and a

subset of my data frame for which "ID" matches one of the numbers in
"ID_list." I'm pretty sure I could write a function

functions on rows or columns of two (or more) arrays
I realize this should be simple, but even after reading over the several
help pages several times, I still cannot decide between the myriad "apply"
functions to address it. I simply want to apply a function to all the rows
(or columns) of the same index from two (or more) identically sized arrays
(or data frames).
For example:

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: Fix out-of-bounds access when deferencing MMU type
The value of struct drm_device.ttm.type_vram can become -1 for unknown
types of memory (see nouveau_ttm_init()). This leads to an out-of-bounds
error when accessing struct nvif_mmu.type[]:

error when compiling "stats" library in R-2.3.1 on Solaris x86
Hello,
I tried to compile v2.3.1 on Solaris x86 with SUN Pro compilers.
I had an error while stats libarary was being compiled and I notice that "-xtarget=generic64" was not passed to f95 while cc used it.
Could you tell me how to fix this problem?

How to get all possible combinations?
Dear all, suppose I have a vector with elements as:
Vec <- c(2,3,4,5,6)
Now I want to have all possible combination of length 3 using those
elements and without any repetition. Like, I want to have 1
possibility like 2-3-4 but not 3-2-4.
Can somebody guide me how to achieve that in R?
Thanks for your help.

Modifying a particular column in a tab-delimited file
Hello R users,
Good day!!
I was wondering if there is a way in R to read in a particular column from a tab-delimited file, edit it and write it back into the file with all other columns intact. When I say edit I mean just replacing all the values in that column.
I know to read a particular column from a file using colClasses option in read.delim() function.
Is there any such option to write out

how to use by() ?
Hello, All!
How might one accomplish this using the by() function?
m1 is a data frame.
# populate column "m1$major_allele"
for ( i in 1:length(m1$major_allele)) {
if ( m1$Freq1[i] == m1$MAF[i]){
m1$major_allele[i] = m1$Al1[i]
}
else{
m1$major_allele[i] = m1$Al2[i]
}
}

Reading sas7bdat files into R
Hi All,
I am trying to import a .sas7bdat file into R.
I tried using Hmisc package's sasxport.get() function.
temp <- sasxport.get("path\abcd.sas7bdat")
I get an error that says "Error in lookup.xport(file) : file not in SAS transfer format"
I am not familiar with SAS transfer format.
Could somebody please clarify what is it that I am missing,

how to get coefficient and scores of Principal component analysis in R?

It might be a simple question. But I could not find the answer from function “prcomp” or “princomp”. Does anyone know what are the codes to get coefficient and scores of Principal component analysis in R?
Your reply will be appreciated!

lfs_migrate question
Hi,
I suffered an oss crash where my oss server had a cpu fault. I have it running again, but I am trying to decommission it. I am migrating the data off of it onto other ost''s using the lfs find command with lfs_migrate.
It''s been nearly 36 hours and about 2 terabytes have been moved. This means I am about halfway. Is this a decent rate?
Here are the particulars, which

Sun 6120 array again

Last April, in this discussion...

reconfigure a 6120 here for use with ZFS (S10U4), and the evil tuneable
