function arrows.circular not working
I have started using the circular package but it is not recognizing the function arrows.circular. I attempted to use the example provided in the circular manual. Here is the example code using the circular package:
plot(rvonmises(10, circular(0), kappa=1))
arrows.circular(rvonmises(10, circular(0), kappa=1))
arrows.circular(rvonmises(10, circular(0), kappa=1), y=runif(10), col=2)

ANOVA - more sophisticated contrasts
dear list,
i am using a multifactorial design with two treatments (factor A: drugs,
three levels; factor B: theraphy, two levels) and a time factor (three
levels, different timepoint). hypothetically, i measured the same subjects
for all treatements and timepoints, so its a repeated measurement design.
now i ran an anova in R and also some Tukey post-hoc tests using glht. but

basic anova and t-test question
Hello,
I'm posting this to receive some comments/hints about a rather statistical than R-technical question ... .
In an anova of a lme factor SSPos11 shows up non-significant, but in the t-test of the summay 2 of the 4 levels (one for constrast) are significant. See below for some truncated output.
I realize that the two test are different (F-test/t-test), but I'm looking for for a

"taking the log then later exponentiate the result" query
Hi,
I am trying to figure out the observed acceptance rate and M, using generalised rejection sampling to generate a sample from the posterior distribution for p.
I have been told my code doesn't work because I need to "take the log of the expression for M, evaluate it and then exponentiate the result." This is because R is unable to calculate high powers such as 545.501.

A bug in circ.plot of CircStats package
Hi,
i found a bug in circ.plot of CircStats package, namely that the plot ingore
the datasets with value = 0. it's simple to fix it, but i cannot seem to
figure out where to submit the fix. is there a official procedure of
submitting bug report/patch to the contributed packages?

calculating mean direction (CircStats)
Hi,
I've currently to work with some circular data. Unfortunately I'm not very
familiar with circular statistics and would really appreciate if I could get
some help concerning the CircStats package this way.
My data lies in the range 0 to 2*pi, and is transformed to radians (as
expected by the CircStats methods). Calculating the mean direction
(circ.mean) results for some datasets in a

CircStats reveals underlying R bug?
circ.plot in CircStats under R 1.8.0 yields incorrect plots (easily
compare hist() and rose.diag()). However, the code in circ.plot has
not changed. Has anyone tracked this down yet?

rose.diag in CircStats package
Dear R community,
I tried to post a query about the use of the rose.diag function from the CircStats package to the r-help forum a few days ago. It gave all appearances of having been successful. It would have been my first post; I am correctly recieving all the R-help emails, but but the message has not appeared anywhere on the forum. Am I held up by the moderator somewhere? any help would be

CircStats help
Hello,
I am quite new to R and although I have read some material
(apparently not enough) I'm getting very frustrated. I'm trying to do
some simple circular statistics in R (CircStats, primarily circ.mean)
and I'm confused about the results. What is a negative radian or
degree mean in R? I thought it would be a coterminal angle, but that
doesn't make sense with my data

CircStats Bug? (PR#11266)
I have a vector of dimension 67, but CircStat circ.summary and circ.disp
seems to conclude that the dimension is 1.
I am new to R so maybe I'm just missing something.

I have a table containing two columns and some 600 rows. The first column
is a time series in the sense contains the amount of time the model that i
am studying stays in a particular state(ie sojourn time). I
extract the contents of the table using read.table. and extract the

Lattices: Cloud: Background
Hi,
There's probably some simple way of doing this, but I'm just not seeing
it - How do I get the background to be white instead of grey when I have
a cloud plot (using the lattices package)? par(bg="white") isn't
working. I'm assuming par commands won't work on lattice plots. What
should I use instead?
Thanks,
Adrienne

par code help
I am making a barplot using barplot2 from gplots where each bar
represents a specific tree species. I have formatted the species names
on the x-axis so that the genus name is above the species name and
have then rotated the labels 45 degrees to save room. This is my code:

Problem loading packages in R 2.13.0 on Mac
I am having problem loading packages in the newest version of R

lawstat, Rcmdr, car) and load them using the Package Installer and
Package Manager menu options but I get the follow error:

ggplot map bounds
To all,
I'm working with code below to produce a map with station data plotted in
points, but right now I'm having trouble with the mapping portion of this
code

c(-85,-75),ylim=c(33,37))[c("x","y")])
usamap<- ggplot(states)+geom_path(aes(x,y))

When I plot this the problem is that the bounds of

windrose color ramp issue
Greetings!
I'm having an issue with the windrose produced by the windrose
function from the circular package. For our weather stations in North
Carolina I'm helping with a script which takes hourly wind speed and
direction data to create windroses for our end users. One of the
stations in the mountains frequently reaches wind speed of 40 to 60
mph and in storms can reach wind speed over

My code so far is:

adjusting x-axis labels
I am trying to tweak how my categorical x-axis labels are formatted in
my bar graph. Specifically, I would like to a) decrease the spacing
between lines (e.g. spacing between Dialium and guianensis) b) right
justify the text and c) have each species name align with the center
of the corresponding bar graph.
A simplified version of my code thus far is as follows. I am using

issues with krige function
Greetings all,
Ran into a strange problem with the krige function from geoR. The
problem that I am having is that while the krige function seems to
work well, the resulting predicted values are all NAs. Given the size
of the datasets I am working with can't attach it, but I can provide
snippets of the datasets.
