heatmap help
Dear R wizards,
Hopeful someone can help me with what I believe is a pretty simple task. I
pretty new to R so some (much) of the obvious escapes me. How do I get a
distance matrix into heatmap? What do I tell distfun if what I'm trying to
map is already an ordered distance matrix? I tried >heatmap(x,
distfun=as.dist(x)) where x is the distance matrix but R gave me an error.
Thanks in

Can anybody tell me where to find a copy of heatmap2? I've seen it in my
travels across the web but didn't bookmark it and can't find it again.
Thanks in advance.

Moving emails tagged as spam to the Junk folder
?I am running Ubuntu 16.04. I am following this guide:
https://wiki2.dovecot.org/HowTo/AntispamWithSieve. At the end when I try
to compile the .sieve files, I get this error: sievec(root): Fatal:

/usr/lib/dovecot/modules/sieve.? Does anyone know about this?
I have dovecot-sieve installed and I'm using Postfix and Spamassassin.

Setting up ADS in Samba with MIT kerberos mapping/backend
So, I'm trying to figure out how to get Samba to work in this way.
Specifically, I have a 2003 R2 AD in 2003 functional level. All user
accounts are mapped to the same user account name @ our MIT Kerberos
server. Users do not know their AD password.
Can Samba authenticate users with their Kerberos realm passwords, and
know to use the same user name so the UIDs match for both platforms +

Problems communicating with Tripp Lite SMART500RT1U via USB with CentOS 6.6 and NUT 2.6.5

You wouldn't happen to know anyone who would be able to publish the specs of that protocol, would you? ;-) That would help remove the "experimental driver" warning.

embed image in R-tcltk canvas
Hi,
I think that R-tcltk doesn't have the capacity to display an image stored in
memory on a tkcanvas object, am I right?
I have digged around everything I can find from Peter Dalgaard and tcltk
references and drew my conclusion.
Can you, Peter, or some other gurus on the list, give us a pointer or two on
how to proceed to solve this problem? I am afraid that it may involve

sd() of column, but for a subset of rows
I would like to take the standard deviation of a column, but only for a
subset of the rows in that column with a given index. The following loop
worked fine when I wanted the mean, but is not working for the standard
deviation:
for (i in 1:length(x[1,])){
a<-tapply(x[,i],x[,2],sd, na.rm=TRUE)
xnew<-cbind(xnew,a)}
I have tried re-defining the sd as follows (as suggested on this board),

combining pairs plot with other plots in one output
I would like to combine multiple plots (one of which is a pairs plot)
in one output display:
While this works well:

data <- matrix(rnorm(1000), ncol=10)
boxplot(data)
hist(data)
plot(data)
This doesn't:
(because the pairs function seems to override the layout parameters?)
layout(matrix(c(1,2,3,3,3,3), ncol=2, byrow=T))

Sanba 2.0.6/2.0.7 Sometimes Loses Connections

I am very new to this list, and perhaps this has been brought up previously,
so I apologize in advance if this has been asked before. I am taking over
administration for Samba here, and the following was brought to my attention
this morning:
It seems if there is some sort of interruption of connectivity between
the samba server and a subnet, samba will sometimes not renew
