Lattice: How to color the data points in splom() according to the panel they are plotted?
Dear ExpeRts, I have the scatter plot matrix as given below. I would like the different "sub-plots" in the scatter plot matrix to be colored differently. How do I get all points shown in the upper-left plot (on position (1,1) in the scatter plot matrix) to be plotted in blue, and the points shown in the plot to the right (on position (1,2) in the scatter plot matrix) to be plotted in

How to put given values in lower triangle of splom-plot?
Dear R-experts, I have found a splom-modification online which is given below. This works perfectly, but I would like to have a matrix of given correlation values to be used in the lower triangular part (lower.panel) of the splom-plot instead of calculated correlation values. Here is the matrix I would like to use (it can be any other convenient data structure):

muliple plots with pairs (matrix of scatter plots)
I am trying to make a graph with 4 scatter matrixes plots and couldn't do it. While trying to find a solution for this I also came across the idea of giving different values to the same argument for each of the lower and upper function but couldn't do it. (Examplified below with the col argument). The first problem of plotting 4 scatter matrixes in a graph is a problem of real

Subject [applying labels to a scatter plot matrix]
Dear R Is there a way to apply row names as labels to a scatter plot matrix , I tried pairs(dogs, labels=row.names) Error in strwidth(labels, "user") : cannot coerce type closure to character vector I'm not sure what this means, however maybe you might know of a way to do this? brett stansfield

specifying ranges in scatter plot
Hi, there: Does anyone know how to specify the ranges in the axises when I make scatter plots using pairs()? In the general plot function, I can use xlim and ylim option. But how can I do this if I use pairs()? Thanks. Yulei [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Highlighting points in a scatter plot matrix
Dear R I recently did a scatterplot matrix using the following command pairs(sleep[c("SlowSleep", "ParaSleep", "logbw", "logbrw", "loglife", "loggest")],col=1+as.integer(ParaSleep > 5.5 | SlowSleep > 15.7)) this highlighted outlying points for some of the x,y plots that I needed to identify. Unfortunately this highlights all the x,y

xyplot() or splom()?: two factors from same data frame
I'm not seeing how to plot the quantities associated with two values of a factor by reading the ?xyplot help page and Deepayan's book. Perhaps I need to generate many different subsets from the data frame, but that would require _many_ new data frames. The structure of the data frame (for a single stream) has sites (factor), a date (as.Date), parameters (factor), and quantities

Putting regression lines on SPLOM
Sorry Folks, I'm sure I could suss out the answer myself but I need it soon ... ! 1. Given a set of 4 variables X,Y,Z,W in a dataframe DF, I make a scatter-plot matrix using splom(DF). 2. I do all regressions of U on V using lm(U~V), where U and V are all 12 different ordered pairs from X,Y,Z,W. 3. Now I would like to superpose the regression lines from (2) onto the corresponding

splom, plotmath: how to add three lines of information with alignment?
Dear expeRts, I would like to create a scatter plot matrix with splom(). The lower panel should contain some additional information about the samples shown in the upper panel plot, see the splom() call below. Now two questions came up: (1) The lower panels show "tau" and "alpha" on top of each other. How can I plot *three* expressions on top of each other? I tried several

Lattice: splom plots for different factors with correlation in lower.panel
Hello list, I am looking to create a figure for my dataset using splom, where there is a splom subplot for each level of a factor within, for example, a 2x2 layout. For each subplot, I wish to put the r-value between each variable pair in the lower panel. The code I have thus far is below, using the iris dataset so that it is reproducible. This almost does what I want, but for some reason

Very slow in processing the equation in the scatter plot ggplot
Hello All, I have plotted a scatter plot in ggplot2 and added a regression line and a regression equation. But the processing is very very slow. One reason might be because I have so many data pairs. Is there any way to speed up this code ? I need to create a multiple layout as well. The code I have used is as follows: setwd("C:/Users/jzd0009/Documents/R software") mydata <-

Correctly plotting bar and scatter chart on 2-y axis plot with par(new=T)
Hello Nabble users, A question about having two y axes on a chart. I'm trying to show on the left (first) y axis a measure used in an experiment; the x axis shows the experiment number, that has been sorted in a specific manner -- i.e. not Experiments 1,2,3,n, but could be Experiment 6,1,18,n; the right (second) y axis shows an experimental variable. The idea of the chart is to show how

Pdf file size for very scatter plots
Dear all, I am plotting a scatter plot for a large sample (1e+05 ordered pairs). This produces a large (~5MB) file in a pdf or postscript terminal, and I am wondering whether there are methods for reducing the size of the resulting file so that it is easier to include it in a document. I'd rather stick with pdf or ps as I am using latex. thanks, Nazareno

pairs: altering pch options on upper and lower panel of pairwise scatter plots
Hello, I can't figure out how to use the upper.panel and lower.panel options in pairs to alter the label options for either panel independently of the other. I would like to be able to show the pairwise scatter plots for the data as they are (a vanilla pairs plot?) but separately to be able to label the points according to a factor level. It is easy enough to do this independently, but I

accessing column and row numbers inside splom in lattice
Hi, When using splom() in the lattice package, I would like to be able to access the row and column number of each individual pairs plot , similar to the way that current.row() and current.column() can be used in other lattice plotting functions such as xyplot. For example, I would like to be able to write something along the lines of library(mvtnorm) library(lattice) y <-

asCairoDevice issue
Hi All, I found this issue when using asCairoDevice to transforming splom scatter plot to my RGtk2 GUI: If I put the code in R GUI or using CairoPNG or Cairo_pdf() to draw the scatter plot, I can get it correctly: The codes are: (you can copy and paste to your R GUI) super.sym <- trellis.par.get("superpose.symbol") plot.call<-splom(~iris[1:4], groups = Species, data = iris,

draw a box at 10% lower and upper in scatter plot
Hi,   I would like to draw a box at each corner of lower 10% and upper 10% in the scatter plot on(0,1)*(0,1)  to indicate the lower and upper tail.  I hope somebody can help me.   Here is my code: ## scatter plot plot(hume_uni[,2],beec_uni[,2], pch=19, xlab="Hume_uni", ylab="Beec_uni", col= "blue")  title(main="Scatter plot of uniformised data of Hume and

scatter plot question
Hi R Users, I have a dataframe like this: id x rho A 1 0.1 B 20 0.5 C 2 0.9 ... I want to do a scatter plot of "x" versus "rho" but for each point on the scatter plot I want the corresponding entry for "id" instead of points. In STATA I can do so by twoway (scatter x rho, mlabel(id)) How can I do the same in R? I am sure there is some simple way to do

how to adding colors to data points in scatter plot in R?
Does anybody know how to adding colors to data points in scatter plot in R? I have the following R data frame - Voter_Name, Education_years, Income, Registered Ricky, 18, 40000, Y Lisa, 20, 34000, N Jon, 10, 35000, Y ... I am doing a scatter plot in R for those data points - Income vs. EducationYears. I would also like to using different colors to differentiate whether that data point is a

H-scatter plot in geostatistics
Hello: I would like to make h-scatter plot. My data looks like as follow: x, y, z, 12.0, 11.2, 12, 10.21, 5.42, 8, 5.12, -8.25, 7, .... I want to make h-scatter plot for the z values by difference distance h from 1 to 20. There are 1023 observations. Do I need to change data class from data-frame to others? I am not sure we can make h-scatter plot in R. Have a nice day. HongSU.
