Console/command line output
Hi all,
I am working on Macos x 10.3 (Panther) to build a package consisting of
C/C++ code that is called from R. In the C/C++-sources I use several
commands to print info to the console:
std::cout << "info" << endl;
and:
Rprintf("info\n");
Both work fine when R is run on the command line but neither works when
running Raqau (I did check the preference boxes

error when compiling "stats" library in R-2.3.1 on Solaris x86
Hello,
I tried to compile v2.3.1 on Solaris x86 with SUN Pro compilers.
I had an error while stats libarary was being compiled and I notice that "-xtarget=generic64" was not passed to f95 while cc used it.
Could you tell me how to fix this problem?

precision when calling a C function; presence of Fortran call
I'm trying to figure out why the presence of a Fortran call affects the
result of a floating-point operation. I have C functions
void test1(int *n, double *f){
int outC;
double c0;
c0 = (double) *n * *f;
outC = floor(c0);
printf("when f computed by R, C says %d by itself\n",outC);
}
void test2(int *n, double *f){
extern int F77_NAME(ifloor)(double *);

Calling FORTRAN function from R issue?
Hello,
I am trying to call the BLAS Level1 function zdotc from R via
a .C call like this:

#include "R_ext/BLAS.h"
void testzdotc() {
Rcomplex zx[3], zy[3], ret_val;
zx[0].r = 1.0; zx[0].i = 0.0;
zx[1].r = 2.0; zx[0].i = 0.0;
zx[2].r = 3.0; zx[0].i = 0.0;
zy[0].r = 1.0; zy[0].i = 0.0;
zy[1].r = 2.0; zy[0].i = 0.0;
zy[2].r = 3.0;

R-0.64.1 make problem: Solaris 2.4
Greetings,
I'm attempting to install R-0.64.1 on a Sun Sparc 20 running Solaris 2.4 with
gcc-2.7.2.2, g77-0.5.20 and Gnu make 3.76-1.
On several occasions, the make process aborted when trying to build the shared object
file for the modreg package (its first attempt at such a beast). In all attempts, the error
message is as follows:

F77_CALL, F77_NAME definition
I give up. Maybe it is my search (Windows) but I cannot seem to find the definition of the F77_CALL or F77_NAME macros. Either there are too many matches or the search just doesn't find it. For example where is the source for:
F77_CALL(dpotri)
?
Thank you.

packages with FORTRAN code
Recent sensible changes to the dynload mechanism have made an old
problem resurface: how should we deal with packages which contain
Fortran code and may need to be linked against additional libraries
such as -lf2c?
The current consensus is that extra Fortran libraries maybe needed are
handled via the make variable FLIBS, and that `-lf2c' or `-lg2c' are
added by default if g77 is used.

predict.loess() segfaults for large n?
Hi,
I am segfaulting when using predict.loess() (checked with r62092).
I've traced the source with the help of valgrind (output pasted
below) and it appears that this is due to int overflow when
allocating an int work array in loess_workspace():
liv = 50 + ((int)pow((double)2, (double)D) + 4) * nvmax + 2 * N;
where liv is an (global) int. For D=1 (one x variable), this

R does not compile if make is not gmake
Hi,
if make and gmake are different on any machine (for example Solaris with
gnu make as gmake), then compiling fails with gmake.
A small transcript follows. If i make a link from gmake to make as under
linux, then it works.
This problem exists in all versions of R.

registering Fortran routines in R packages
Dear list,
I?m trying to register Fortran routines in randtoolbox (in srt/init.c file), see https://r-forge.r-project.org/scm/viewvc.php/pkg/randtoolbox/src/init.c?view=markup&root=rmetrics.
Reading https://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/r-release/R-exts.html#Registering-native-routines and looking at what is done in stats package, I first thought that the following code will do the job:

compiling latest version of R
Dear R-help community,
I have had trouble in the past installing the latest version of R: we got the
errors shown below (the computer specifications and version of R are below
that). Does anybody have tips for compiling the latest version of R so that I
can avoid these errors?

passing char to Fortran routine
Hello all,
I am using an existing Fortran routine that takes a single character string
as argument. The routine echoes the argument that I provide. When working on
OS X 3.9 there seems to be no problem, ie the Fortran routine nicely echoes
my argument. However, I compiled the same package on a PC (using all the
tools provided in the R for windows faq), and the routine only echoes the
first letter

Error in simulation. NAN
Hi all,
im triyng to implement a bayesian model with R and c++.
I have a strange problem. I can't reproduce the error with a small
script and then i post the original one.
The problem is after the line
for(MCMC_iter2=0;MCMC_iter2<thin;MCMC_iter2++)
For the first 34 iterations all work fine, after, all the simulations
of mu_acc_P return an "nan". If i delete the line

Cannot update packages on F8
Dear All,
I have just updated R to the version 2.6.2 on F8 (with the official F8
rpm). However, when running as root the following command:
update.packages(checkBuilt=T)
I get a bunch of errors like the ones below. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
