First sample release of the R-Orca package.
For all those few of you who care about weird statistical visualization software, I've finally made available a "test" release for R-Orca. There are examples of a 2-d variable selection plot (i.e. 2-d straight projection, with selection of the 2 variables to view), a GrandTour plot, and a Simplicial data plot. The points of interest are the ability to brush and select from the

Does R have graphlets?
I've been experimenting some with the graphlets which S-Plus 6.1 has. Is there something similar in R? I've looked through documentations, and at SJava, but haven't found it. (If you don't know what a graphlet is, here's what it appears to be: a graphlet is a binary file that encodes information about a graph. Java uses spgraph.jar to display the graph and allow certain

Rorca zip?
Dear R People: Is there a Windows binary for ROrca, please? When I did the search on the R site, there were several links to a zip file, but all of the links were broken. Thanks in advance! Interacting with Clusters...
Dear R-devel, My current research focuses upon sensitivity analyses which require [1] clusterings of patients in a baseline covariate X-space and [2] examining the distribution of within-cluster treatment differences in outcome. I have generated some primitive R code for this, but I really need to be able to interact with graphical displays of within-cluster information (local average

scatterplot brushing
Is there a package (other than xgobi which requires an X server) that will do scatterplot brushing? I see a mention in the mail archive of R-orca by Anthony Rossini but it is not in the current list of packages. My OS is Windows XP version 5.1, service pack 2 R version 2.4.1 (2006-12-18) Thanks [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

RJava and Orca...
It's cool, it's exciting, and much thanks to Duncan. He announced RJava yesterday (or this morning?) on the R-devel list, and it's really worth it. http://www.omegahat.org/RSJava for more details. But it does mean that we can run Orca code directly within R, (without Thomas' socket connections) (and also means that we really need a "stop" button, since killing

3D package in R
Hi all, I am considering writing a 3D visualisation package for R. Purposes: - Visualise 3 dimension data - Manipulate the data or series or any other object with the mouse as in any 3D software (3D Studio Max, Lightwave...) - Eventually display more than just 3D objects. Justification: - It's always interesting to plot data before performing any analysis - Manipulating (rotating,

3d in R
Dear R-users and R-developpers, I've not been able to find 3d graphics in R, like Splus spin() or brush(). Are there any that I've missed and/or is anybody working on implementing these type of functions? Question re:S4 classes and design; clashing classes?
Thanks to Duncan's recent work on SJava, I've got a (so far) stable platform to put together the R-Orca interface (dynamic graphics, including brushing, subseting, etc). While the first version will be looking at installation issues and study basic user interfaces for providing a few working examples, it will be important for this particular package to look at how one integrates a

Is anyone using the Orca screenreader?
Orca is a daemon written in Python and C which presents the contents of a Gnome screen to a blind person in speech or braille. It is on the CentOS 5.6 disks. Has anyone on this list used it? If so, what was your experience? I am developing the BrailleBlaster tactile literacy application. Since I am both blind and deaf, I will be using a braille display. I also need to make sure that the

SJava still hates GUIs on Linux, both Blackdown and IBM... Can anyone verify IBM or Sun?
I've been having fun with crashes recently, both with Blackdown JDK and the IBM JDK, while building up the ROrca interface. It's just not stable for me, and my lack of grokking the intimate details of lazy evaluation is not helping. Brushing works, though, which is nice. I need a bit more stability before I get the "data add/change" features in line, though. Anyway, other

Bad message_id occasionally when connecting a MacOS to a freebsd running 4.8.2
Hi, I am running Samba 4.8.2 with fruit and use it to connect a MacOS to the server. Mostly it works very good, but occasionally the connection halts or the Mac disconnects, and in the log I find these messages: Jun 20 13:00:00 orca smbd[6033]: [2018/06/20 13:00:00.856101, 0] ../source3/smbd/smb2_server.c:641(smb2_validate_sequence_number) Jun 20 13:00:00 orca smbd[6033]:

OpenOffice.org with Java Enabled
I am currently building the latest SRPM of openoffice.org with java enabled (using Sun Java SDK version j2dk1.4.2_04-b05). If it builds, is anyone else interested in having the binary and source RPMS? If there is an interest, maybe we can get it into the contrib section of the CentOS mirrors. After it builds, I can verify the requirements ... but I think the only extra thing required will be

Zoom enhancements
I'll be working on zoom during Google summer of code, to get it to work better with existing accessibility software. Basicly get it to communicate with tools like Orca. Because this relies on input enabled zoom, there are some issues I like to clear up before I start. I don't want to directly base my work on any of the two publicly available zoom plugins. This means I'll be creating a

AnonCVS
Hi All, I would like to use anonymous cvs, but it appears not to be working (again?). There was a discussion back in Jan-Feb about whether to continue supporting it, but it seemed that Tony Rossini got it working and the discussion left off there. Did someone decide to disable it, or is it just not working properly? Here's the details: $ cvs -d
