Sweave question
Using Sweave in the tools library (R version 1.8.0: sorry i havent
upgraded), it seems i cant use if statements in R chunks that make graphs.
i have this:

par(mfrow=c(1,1))
if(exists("x"))
plot(x,x)
else{
plot(1,1,type="n")
text(1,1,"data not available.\n")

Sweave does not parse \Sexpr{}
Hi,
has anybody encountered and solved the following
problem?
I continued work now on a different computer where I
have also used Sweave successfully before. I can run
Sweave() and it generates a .tex file. All code chunks
are processed and translated to Latex perfectly fine
but somehow only the \Sexpr{} tags are not parsed.
This is an example .Rnw:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{Sweave}

sweave quesiton
if i write a funciton like this
f <- function(x) Sweave("report.Rnw")
and report.Rnw has an R chunk like this:
<<>>=
print(x)
@
i get an error: 'Object "x" not found'.
is there a way to avoid this
without using assign to create a global variable?
thanks,

Adding LaTeX cross-references into Sweave plots
Hi all
I'm using Sweave and LaTeX, and love how they interact.
But here's a different interaction I'm not sure how to achieve; I
hope someone can help. I use a simple example, of course, to
demonstrate.
Suppose in my LaTeX document I have this:
Here is a linear equation:
\begin{equation}
y = -1 + 3 x
\label{EQ:example}
\end{equation}
This appears in the final product

Trouble using grid.layout in Sweave
Hi!
I am troubled by Sweave which I want to use in order to plot graphics which
I build up successively by the use of grid.layout. Here is the code:
<<fig=TRUE,label=evolDist,height=6in,width=3in,pdf=FALSE>>=
## combined plot via grid viewports
grid.newpage()
pushViewport(viewport(layout=grid.layout(2,1)))
vlay <- function(x,y) viewport(layout.pos.row=x, layout.pos.col=y)

Sweave \Sexpr{} advice please
Dear List,
First off, my deepest gratitude to the Sweave developers: this tool has
improved my quality greatly.
A question in my work I use \Sexpr{} statements scalar values and the xtable
package for all manner of tables. What I'd like to do is to use a vector
inline, rather than a whole separate table. Something like:

Sweave and complex numbers
Hi
When using Sweave, most of my functions get called with complex
arguments.
They get typeset in with additions that I don't want; "1+1i" appears
as "1 + (0 + 1i)"
and I would rather have plain old "1+1i".
Example follows:
\documentclass[a4paper]{article}
\title{A Test File}
\author{Robin Hankin}
\usepackage{a4wide}
\begin{document}
\maketitle

Sweave problem with greek text
Dear Sweave and R aficionados,
I am using R and Latex for many years, writing texts in greek. I tried
to combine them with Sweave, but without any success.
Could you provide me with any help?
Usually my LaTeX files are like this iso-8859-7 encoded .tex file:

Question on Sweave-Latex and examples in the Sweave Manual
Hi List,
I have a problem with using Latex and Sweave for creating a document.
So I downloaded the Sweave manual from
http://www.statistik.lmu.de/~leisch/Sweave/Sweave-manual.pdf
and i have tried to replicate the example on pages 4-5, but i encounter the following problem: IT DOES NOT WORK. I can run Sweave, create the .tex file and then when building the .tex file in TeXnikCenter i get all

package Utils Sweave Example Error
Hi:
I'm still trying to figure out how use Sweave. Trying the example below I get the error message when texi2dvi is executed. Any ideas about how to make texi2dvi work?

Modifying Sweave.sty to allow escapes with fancyvrb package in LaTeX
Dear Colleagues:
In an attempt to have things like # See page \pageref{this} inside
comments in R code chunks I have modified Sweave.sty as below. I have
followed fancyvrb's manual with regard to the use of the commandchars
argument. But when compiling with LaTeX (using attached test file) I
get a LaTeX error

Apparent conflict between \Sexpr in Sweave and R2HTML
I have come across an apparent bug in the operation of Sweave. If I
load the package R2HTML then execution of \Sexpr{} in an *.Rnw file no
longer works. The \Sexpr{} code is simply written to the *.tex file.
Below are my *.Rnw file, commands, and output.
The Sweave file, Sweave-test-1_short.Rnw:

Sweave, white space and code blocks
Sweave is very useful, and I'm gradually getting used to it.
I've just been battling Sweave over the re-use of code chunks. As I am
pretty ignorant in the byways of both Sweave and R, this took a chunk of
time to sort out. Here is what I learned:
If one re-uses a code chunk, then Sweave (but not Stangle) will insist that

Processing Sweave documents without Sweave
Hi,
I am very intrigued by the idea of integrating
statistical analysis directly with a paper as Sweave
does it. But as I am collaborating with several people
and they won't have set up R and also they're very
unlikely interested in learning it, I am concerned
about how such an Latex/Sweave document will work on
their side.
Can they Latex-compile the document without having R /
