Questions regarding to JohnSonFit() in the R package Johnson {SuppDists}
Hello,
I was trying to fit a Johnson curve by first figuring out the parameter
estimates using JohosnFit of a vector by a group ID using the aggregate
function. I.E.
aggregate(x, by = list(ID), JohnsonFit)
where x is the variable I am trying to perform JohnsonFit on. It is a
continuous random variable. However, I keep getting the following error:

Johnson Distribution Fit
Hi,
I am trying to fit a Johnson SB distribution using fitdist function in
fitdistrplus Library. I have defined the Johnson SB distribution from (
http://www.ntrand.com/johnson-sb-distribution/) . But it gives me the
follwing errors. Any help would be appreciated

#lambda =l
#delta =d
#gamma = g
djohn = function(x,xi,l,d,g)
(d/(l*sqrt(2*pi)*((x-xi)/l)*(1-((x-xi)/l))))*exp[-0.5*(g +

Generalized least squares using "gnls" function
Hi:
I have data from an assay in the form of two vectors, one is response
and the other is a predictor. When I attempt to fit a 5 parameter
logistic model with "nls", I get converged parameter estimates. I also
get the same answers with "gnls" without specifying the "weights"
argument.
However, when I attempt to use the "gnls" function and try to

fit Johnson Sb with fitdist(method="mme")
Dear R-helpers,
I am trying to fit my data to a 4-parameter lognormal distribution (aka
Johnson Sb dist) with fitdist function from the library(fitdistrplus). So
far, I have learnt that with "mle" method it's not always possible to
estimate the gamma and delta parameters even if the bounding estimates are
"known"/"guessed".
Therefore, I tried to fit it with the

proxy
Hi all;
I?m working with the latest version of R under Win2000. My internet connection
(using a proxy) requires my username and password. In this situation I?m
not able to update the packages from CRAN (unless I download and install
them from a local drive). I tried looking at information on the list servers
but I couldn?t figure out how to change 'environment variables' or something

Selecting subsamples
Hi all,
I?m working with a dataset with 9 columns and 2000 rows. Each row represents
an individual and one of the columns represents the volume of that individual
(measured in cubic meters). I?d like to select a sample from this dataset
(without considering any probability of the rows) in which the sum of the
volume of the individuals in that sample >= 100 cubic m.
I?ll appreciate any

SuppDists is orphaned on CRAN (and has been since 2013).

Oddly, the simulate method for the inverse.gaussian family
[inverse.gaussian()$simulate] depends (in a loose sense) on SuppDists
(it fails if the SuppDists namespace is not available:

Or, a crazy person (me) cld volunteer to keep this running and get it back on CRAN.
I fixed the severe warning and also added C-side registration code.
The pkg is monolithic but the C code is super straightforward (a is the R code).
Unless someone can think of a reason not to, I can submit this to CRAN this week and get the source up on social coding sites.
It looks like Jerome Braun did this

Ah, I spoke too soon. I started putting the demo code into a test suite and ran one check with valgrind and ? sure enough ? there's def more issues (a cpl functions) than the overt/easy ones (and, I went back to the check results page and, also sure enough, they're there, too). They look to be fairly straightforward to resolve but it's going to take a bit longer than "this

NB decode in SB
Is there a way to tell during the NB decode if it was kicked off by the
SB decode? I would like to avoid saturating and packing the output of
the NB decode, only to unpack it for the SB.
Thanks.

xfs_repair doesn't fix sb versionnum missing attr
I run:
xfs_check /dev/sdc10
And it reports:
sb versionnum missing attr bit 10
Then I run:
xfs_repair /dev/sdc10
And it reports output from 7 phases and "done".
Again I run:
xfs_check /dev/sdc10
And it reports:
sb versionnum missing attr bit 10
Is this how it's supposed to work?
Thanks for any help.

NB decode in SB
Because a wideband signal has both a narrowband part and a wideband part
the first part of the wideband decode is to call the narrowband decode.
In the fixed point version the signal generated from the narrowband
decode is downshifted at the end. In this same version the wideband
then upshifts the signal by the same amount.
I would like to do away with the downshift on the narrowband side

An update of the Distribustions man page
Dear list,
I would like to suggest a small update the ?Distributions man page of the
stats package. The current version contains the following line.
The CRAN package \pkg{SuppDists} for additional distributions.
I think it would be better to put in this man page a link to the CRAN task
view on Distributions

nlme questions
Dear R users;
Ive got two questions concerning nlme library 3.1-65 (running on R 2.2.0 /
Win XP Pro). The first one is related to augPred function. Ive been working
with a nonlinear mixed model with no problems so far. However, when the
parameters of the model are specified in terms of some other covariates,
say treatment (i.e. phi1~trt1+trt2, etc) the augPred function give me the
