Console/command line output
Hi all, I am working on Macos x 10.3 (Panther) to build a package consisting of C/C++ code that is called from R. In the C/C++-sources I use several commands to print info to the console: std::cout << "info" << endl; and: Rprintf("info\n"); Both work fine when R is run on the command line but neither works when running Raqau (I did check the preference boxes

Problem with fontsize of pie-chart in postscript file
Hi all, I've a problem with the size of the labels of my pie-charts when I try to write them to a postscript file. I need to increase the default size, so I change cex (see below). On screen this works fine, but cex doesn't seem to affect the postscript-file. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot, Daniel Copy/Past-example (will try to write to c:/temp!): labels <- c("I",

pdf() function, screen command and graphs
Dear [R]-list, I am trying to do a pdf() of the following graphs but don't understand why the pdf() function does produce an empty pdf file. (I use R1.7.0 on MacOS 10.2.8) any idea? Is pdf() incompatible with screen? Thanks a lot, DLC ## create dataset x=rnorm(1000,10,2) y=rpois(1000,5) ## graphs pdf() par(col.main=4,omi=c(0,0,1.25,0)) split.screen(c(1,2))

Compilation error on mgcv_1.1-7 on OS X (10.3)
Greetings I run into a compilation error when updating to mgcv_1.1-7 in R 2.0.0 on OS X 10.3. Note that other pacakges have compiled nicely. Some details are given below, but in short it looks like it's seeking for /usr/local/lib/powerpc-apple-darwin6.8/3.4.2/ which I don't have. But I do have /usr/lib/gcc/darwin/3.3 i.e a lower version of GCC in a different directory. More

RAqua and AquaTclTk
While playing around with panther I discovered (with surprise) that tcltk seems to work (even if not smoothly) with RAqua without first calling tkStartGUI. I switched back to 10.2.6 and it works as well. I think this is due to the "last minute" fix in RAqua now using idle timers because of too much cpu usage. Some "mouse" trick is needed though. If you want to test it you

simple shaded rectangle overlay on plots
Hi, I'm sure this is pretty straightforward, but I cant seem to figure it out after playing around with grid, and a number of other packages for graphing I have data of the following type (much larger of course, and in this case is named "Medoid4"). The first column defines the x-axis, while as each other column is individual y-axes in different plots gene1 gene2 gene3 4

problem with pdf() on Mac Os X
Hello R helpers, I am quite new as a R user, and even more on a Mac Os. I am running R under Emacs 21.3.30.5 through ESS. I have some problems with the pdf() device : when sent to it, plots don't come out with any labels, titles or whatever written. I don't have that problem when plots are sent to X11 or postscript devices. As pdf is the native format on Mac Os X, i find it sad to

I've listed my version of R below, as well as a simple heatmap command. I'm running the program on a Mac, OS 10 v 10.3.9. Any suggestions?? Thanks! Peter > version _

RAqua package installation on Panther
From the RAqua faq just uploaded to CRAN (so it will take until tomorrow to appear) Panther notes After installing Panther (MacOSX 10.3) it turns out that package installation (either from sources or from binaries) can fail. If you get an error "like" this (this comes from source package installation) dyld: gcc version mismatch for library: /usr/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib
