tkcanvas/bitmap for Turtle World
To represent a turtle inside a canvas (tcltk package), I have a serie of
bitmaps
representing the turtle heading in different directions and I would like
to display the one that corresponds to the current direction of the turtle
(function below).
I have created with Paint a bitmap representing the turtle in BMP format
and succeeded displaying it on canvas after converting it into XBM format

"Turtle world" graphics in R
I would greatly appreciate some idea about the best approach to make a
graphical interface of for a turtle world in R.
In the turtle environment, the user controls movements of a turtle
through the command line (e.g. forward(10), turn(5), etc.). The turtle should
be displayed in the new position and heading after each command.
Also, the turtle's path and, possibly, objects (squares,

Turtle world
Dear all,
I am trying to do a "loose" implementation in R of the Turtle World (LOGO) and
need some advices on graphical issues.
In its current very simple implementation, the user can give order to the
the turtle to
move through the console. The current position and movements are displayed
graphically (see below). In the future, I would like to permit the turtle
to interact

Multiple Reponse CART Analysis
Dear R friends-
I'm attempting to generate a regression tree with one gradient predictor and multiple responses, trying to test if change in size (turtle.data$Clength) acts as a single predictor of ten multiple diet taxa abundances (prey.data) Neither rpart or mvpart seem to allow me to do multiple responses. (Or if they can, I'm not using the functions properly.)

tcltk, X11 protocol error: Bug?
Hi,
I am having trouble debugging this one. The code is attached below, but
it seems to be a problem at the
C-tk interface. If I run this 1 time there are no problems if I run it
more than once I start to get warnings
that increase in multiples of 11 everytime I run it. Here is a sample
session

Is this sample size big enough to test for statistical significance?
Dear R community,
Is this sample size large enough to study differences between two groups of the populations?
Q1: do the body temperatures differ between the two groups of the overwintering turtles juveniles and adults?
One group (adults) has 6 turtles
Second group (juveniles) has 1 turtle.
There are 3 replications, i.e. the experiment was repeated over the three years, but using

Canvas Tag + Rails Ajax
Hi all,
Just looking for a quick sanity check. I was thinking of writing a
plugin for rails to give rails developers a good way of using the new
firefox 1.5/safari canvas tags. I was thinking of grabbing an
existing ruby graphics library and modifying it so that it renders
via the canvas tag..
So you could have link_to_remote pointing to controller actions that

Setting :canvas => false for URL generation doesn''t always work?
I generate a lot of URL''s in my Facebook related code that point to our main
site, not our FB app. My understanding was that the way to do this was to
use ":canvas => false" as a parameter to url_for and link_to and so on.
However, that doesn''t seem to generate the proper URL''s. The URL''s still
point to apps.facebook.com (because they

Q - scatterplot, plot function & trellis linear regressions???
Hi R-listers,
Q1) What is the difference between the scatterplot and plot function?
Q2) I am able to make a graph with the scatterplot function:
scatterplot(DevelopIndex ~ Veg,
+ data = Turtle,
+ xlab = "Vegetation border (m)",
+ ylab = "Embryonic development index")
And have been successful. But I do not know if the lines are for:

Dynamic resize of drawing canvas and FXImage
How can I use the drawing canvas and its off-screen image buffer, say
FXImage, to dynamically resize or have its width and height attributes
changed in reply to user interaction with the main window (FXMainWindow)?
It seems that whem I put initial values to W and H of the canvas or FXImage,
they remain with its initial values no matter what I do whem resizing the
main window.

row.names in dunes and dunes.env?
Hello,
I've got a small dataset on box turtle shell measurements that I would like to perform a detrended correspondence analysis on. I thought that it would be interesting to examine the morphometrics for each species in the area of overlap and in areas where neither species occurs.
I've taken a look at the dune and dune.env datasets in vegan. Using the str() command gives me

Question abt redirect_to..
I found a reference to using attachment_fu and followed the lead of it
but having an issue with the redirect_to that renders the fb:render
tag - In my form I''m setting the canvas to false, file is being
uploaded / save fine but when I attempt to redirect:
redirect_to :action => :new, :canvas => true
Unfortunatly it looks like my callback URL is getting printed twice, e.g.

segfault when running heatmap()
Hi, I was wondering if someone in the mailing list has any insight into this
segfault error that I consistently find when running a script containing
heatmap() in R 2.8.1 and 2.8.0 on a Linux 64-bit machine.
Some points:
1. This occurs when running heatmap().
2. Interestingly, if I source() the script or copy and paste the script in
its entirety, this error occurs. However, if I run the

Changing size of lattice plot?
Hi
I am having a bit of difficulty with changing the canvas size on a
trellis/lattice plot. I am plotting two "cubes" of 3-dimensional random
numbers, as follows:
library(gsl)
library(lattice)
q <- qrng_alloc(type="sobol", 3)
npoints <- 200
rs <- qrng_get(q,npoints)
# Plot the normal variates in a 3-dim cube

Helpers and URL Rewriting
Hey folks,
I''m part way through a project using, I think rev 73 of Facebooker,
and was getting along pretty well. I''ve since tried the latest rev
(86) and have run into a few problems.
First one was with the helpers in that for some reason now none of
them are available so I''ve had to use helper :application, etc in my
controller.
Second one, which
