MSYS2 maintainer contacted
I wrote to the MSYS2 package maintainer about the download
mingw-w64-i686-xapian-core-1.4.1-1-any.pkg.tar.xz, missing
the /mingw32/lib/libxapian.la file.
Admittedly, I ran without arguments configure on their copy
"xapian-1.4.1-1" of the sources, whereas the maintainer had
arguments to configure. So before further attendance to the
subject I should check if the xapian-1.4.1 &

Compile Samba without AD/ADS for a slim installation
I am trying to compile samba4 for a raspberry pi. I just want it to be
able to share a folder of files. I do not need or want all the
functionality and features of a full blown samba installation. This i s on
Arch and it is an armv6 raspberry.
I have some partial instructions for compiling without ad-dc and ads but
keep getting a failed build. I have been grepping all over and I have been

best HDF5 package: h5r or rhdf5?
What is the current best package for manipulating HDF5 data files?
I tried "hdf5" a long time ago, but I ran into memory problems. "h5r" is on
CRAN now, and "rhdf5" is part of bioconductor.
Ideally, I'd like to read simple vectors or tables, either the entire thing
or a subset of rows. I don't need much writing support, but it would be
nice. Compression is a

Problems with installing Wine
Hi,
I have problems installing wine. I am using Slackware 12.0, and I've
downloaded the slackware wine package wine-1.1.20-i486-1kjz.tgz from
here:

When I unpack it, I get two folders: usr/ and install/. In install/ I
have a script doinst.sh. When I run, I get:

I vote for "don't clone with depth 1". There's no way we're going to
catch all of these anyway.

kernel-plus PXE virt-install with Xen?
I'm trying to figure out how to replace the vmlinuz and initrd.img from
CentOS 7.4 with "fixed" kernel-plus versions in order create CentOS 7.4
VM's. So far I'm stuck booting via 7.3 install, adding new kernel-plus and
upgrading to 7.4. I've not found any complete Google answers and was
looking for help making sure I choose the correct approach.
I've tried to build

The Arch Linux vcs packaging guidelines used to recommend shallow
cloning of git packages, as apparently this was said to save bandwidth
for the repo server. Now Pacman is doing the cloning automatically based
on the vcs URL in the sources array, so the checkout function is no
longer needed, and versioning is now done via a pkgver() function that
in the case of git, uses git describe --long if the

Removing Wine source directory
After installing wine from the source, I find out that the directory is consuming some significant amount of space, so I decided to remove it. But then I remembered that since I installed from source, I mighty need the source directory in the future, in case I decide to uninstall wine. After checking the documentation, I saw that was true.
So I wonder: Can I remove the directory and in the future,

How to build a package which loads Rgraphviz (if installed)...
Dear List,
I use Rgraphviz for display of graphs in some packages. Since Rgraphviz is no longer on CRAN it needs to be installed from Bioconductor and that is fine, but I have trouble figureing out the following: I create a plot method which - if Rgraphviz is installed - uses Rgraphviz for displaying and otherwise does nothing. This is implemented as:
if (!("package:Rgraphviz" %in%
