dbHasCompleted() always returns TRUE for POSTGRES Database with RJDBC?
Hello Simon, Hello everyone,
I have a problem with retrieving database-queries chunkwise. In my query
(Postgresql-Database, Postgres-Version 9.1) dbHasCompleted seems to
always return TRUE.
dbGetQuery works for smaller tables, but not for the whole query, since
then a Heap-Overflow-Error will occur (and a Error:

ROracle/DBI problem with dbExecStatement on RH Linux
Hi,
first thanks to Sunny Ho (and David James for the pointer) for resolving
the problem of the empty rows returned from ROracle.
However, I have a problem still:
> library(ROracle)
> ora <- dbDriver("Oracle")
> con <- dbConnect(ora, user = USER, password = PWD, dbname = DBNAME)
> rs <- dbExecStatement(con, "select * from USER_TABLES")

Why is bubbles() creating empty png graphs?
This code below produces empty XXX.png files - if I use plot(), it works
and if I enter the commands
png(filename=fn)
bubble(positions, do.sqrt=FALSE, main=q)
dev.off()
manually, it works as well.
I am lost - any help appreciated.
The weird thing is that it worked before I made some changes... (I don't
have a copy of the working version...).

RMySQL and stored procedures
Hi,
I use RMySQL to connect to MySQL server where I have a couple of stored
procedures.
I know that the function for the stored procedures "is not yet
implemented", but I was trying to
get around the problem connecting like that:
drv <- dbDriver("MySQL")
con <- dbConnect(drv,user=MyUser, password=MyPasswd, dbname=MyDBName,
host=MyHost, client.flag="196608"

RMySQL load error
I'm having trouble getting RMySQL to load. I was able to build it and install
it (RMySQL_0.5-11.tar.gz). I was also able to build and install mysql-5.0.37.
I've read many postings about this but have not found a mention of my
particular problem (some closely related). I get the "unable to load shared
library, no such file" error, but all the files do exist, RMySQL.so and

RMySQL installed but not availalable
I don't use MySQL but I have seen messages like this before. They often have replies which indicate that you need to follow the instructions more closely. I suggest you search the list for these previous posts as I'm sure there is help there, somewhere!

RSQLite and fetching rows from multiple tables
I'm trying to use RSQLite statement to cycle through a large database
in "chunks" via the fetch(...,n=20000). As far as I can tell,
however, it keeps re-fetching the same beginning set of rows -- any
ideas what might be wrong with the following code? The select
statement is pulling from multiple tables. I apologize in advance --
the DB is about 4gb so I can't make it easily

RMySQL CREATE TABLE error
Hi all-
I am stumped. The code in A. returns errors at lines 14 and 15 and fails
to load series1 and series2. However, in B., if temp1 and temp2 are
called again (which returns a "Table exists" error; see lines 14-17 in
B.) series1 and series2 load correctly. Any ideas? Also-I am open to any
suggestions to improve the code as I am a horrific programmer. Thanks

Hi,
I just installed ROracle and RDBI. The connection to the database seems
to work also. My problem is when I am selection rows that really exist
in the database, it is returning nothing. Where should I look to see
what could be my problem?
Thank you very much,

Installing and Loading RMySQL on OS X 2.8
Hello,
I have trouble installing and loading the RMySQL package on OS X 2.8.
The package seems to install from source fine (using R package manager
from within the R environment). I have the following error when I try
to load the package:

dbApply (R newbee)
I am trying to use R interfaced with MySQL. Present goal is that R should
calculate the 85% quantile of AvgSpeed for each LinieID. Looking through
documentation of the RMySQL Package, I guessed that dbApply would do the
trick due to this example

Irregular Time Series: zoo & its: Pros & Cons
I am the maintainer of its, but not it's original author.
One of the main strengths of its is that it uses POSIXct dates.
Zoo has the flexibility of using almost any date format, but I don't
know if the other date formats can store hour, min, sec data.
You might want to do a little exploring with each before you commit.
I'll be happy to give you a hand if you decide to work with

Reading Oracle SQL Developer BLOB/CLOB files into R (Packages: DBI, foreign, RODBC, ROracle)
Hi everyone,
I have been following these forums closely for the last few months but this
is my first time posting. Basically I am trying to get an Oracle SQL
Developer Binary Large Object(BLOB/CLOB) file in as an R object in R. For
those not familiar with a BLOB/CLOB file, it is basically lik a table that
has cells that contain tables or files. By converting the large table into a

Help with ROracle
Dear R-users,
I am working with a colleague on extracting and processing data from our
Oracle database using R scripts. We performed some initial testing using
functions available in the ROracle package. Overall, our tests were
successful and encouraging. There are however a couple of questions/problems
which I'd like to submit to your attentions:

I need a very fast and reliable database solution so I try to serialize a data.frame (to binary data) and to store this data to an SQLite database.
This is what I tried to do:

RPostgreSQL segfault with LEFT JOIN
Hi,
I recently upgraded to R 2.9.0 on linux x86. After doing so, I switched to the
RPostgreSQL package for interfacing with a postgresql database. I am using
postgresql 8.3.7.
A query that works from the postgresql terminal is causing a segfault when
executed from R.
My sessionInfo, the error message, and the R code used to generate the error
are listed below.
I have noticed that a
