Multinomial Nested Logit package in R?
Dear R-Help,
I'm hoping to find a Multinomial Nested Logit package in R. It would
be great to find something analogous to "PROC MDC" in SAS:
> The MDC (Multinomial Discrete Choice) procedure analyzes models
> where the
> choice set consists of multiple alternatives. This procedure
> supports conditional logit,
> mixed logit, heteroscedastic extreme value,

R analogue
Dear R users:
Is there any R analogue for the S+ function "na.gam.replace". I would like
to make an interaction of a categorical and smooth continuous covariate.
Thanks.

something wrong when using pspline in clogit?
Dear R users:
I am not entirely convinced that clogit gives me the correct result when I
use pspline() and maybe you could help correct me here.
When I add a constant to my covariate I expect only the intercept to change,
but not the coefficients. This is true (in clogit) when I assume a linear in
the logit model, but the same does not happen when I use pspline().
If I did something similar

multinomial probit
Hello All,
I'm trying to run a multinomial probit on a dataset with 28 data
points and five levels (0,1,2,3,4) in the latent choice involving
response variable.
I downloaded the latest mnp package to run the regression. It starts
the calculation and then crashes the rpogram. I wish I could give the
error message but it literally shuts down R without a warning.
I'm using the R

multivariate ordered probit regression---use standard bivariate normal distribution?
Hello.
I have yet to receive a response to my previous post, so I may have
done a poor job asking the question. So, here is the general question:
how can I run a run a multivariate (more than one non-independent,
response variables) ordered probit regression model? I've had success
doing this in the univariate case using the vglm() function in the
VGAM package. For example:

Re: Universal legend in plot
Is your data such that it can be restructured into a form amenable to a
lattice plot, such as xyplot()? In that case, the legend (key in lattice)
can be placed pretty much anywhere.

GAM ordered probit
Dear All,
Anyone know if there is a package that fits Generalized Linear Models(GAM)
to data with ordered dependent variable(response) ?
Simon Wood's mgcv has probit, logit,... other links, however, I could not
find a way to do GAM *ordered *probit. Yee's VGAM claims to fit ordinal
proportional odds model(cumulative logit model) (see:
http://www.stat.auckland.ac.nz/~yee/VGAM/) but I

multivariate ordinal probit regression vglm()
Hello, all.
I'm investigating the rate at which skeletal joint surfaces pass
through a series of ordered stages (changes in morphology). Current
statistical methods in this type of research use various logit or
probit regression techniques (e.g., proportional odds logit/probit,
forward/backward continuation ratio, or restricted/unrestricted
cumulative probit). Data typically include the

sampling from a mixture distribution
Dear R users,
I would like to sample from a mixture distribution p1*f(x1)+p2*f(x2). I
usually sample variates from both distributions and weight them with their
respective probabilities, but someone told me that was wrong. What is the
correct way?

manipulating elements of a matrix
Dear R users:
I have the following matrix.
0 1 1
0 1 0
2 1 0
3 0 0
I would like to spread the matrix such that whenever the row sum is greater
than 1 the row is repeated the number of times given by the row sum.
Furthermore I would like to split the following cases:
0 1 1
such that it map to the following matrix
0 1 0
0 0 1
such that each row adds up to 1.
I have no problems with cases

Hmisc multiple imputation functions

manipulating elements of a vector

I would like to convert a series of vectors to matrices in the following
way;
(2,1,1) to a matrix

ordered probit and cauchit
What is the current state of the R-art for ordered probit models, and
more
esoterically is there any available R strategy for ordered cauchit
models,
i.e. ordered multinomial alternatives with a cauchy link function. MCMC
is an option, obviously, but for a univariate latent variable model
this seems
to be overkill... standard mle methods should be preferable. (??)

multinominal probit & logit
Dear everybody!
Are there algorithms for multinominal logit/probit available for R? Is it my
fault that I cannot find these in CRAN? Has somebody programmed these?

Log-likelihood for Multinominal Probit Regression Model
I use mnp to run a multinominal probit regression model, but the summary
doesn't contain the model statistics, such as the log-likelihood and degree
of freedom, for the assessment of the goodness-of-fit of the fitted model.
Is there any way that I can generate these statistics for the fitted model
in R?
Many thanks in advance!

query on converting survey data from one structure to another
Dear R users,
I am trying to convert a dataset from one format to several rectangular
datasets. A consultant helped design the data entry program for our survey
using Delphi/Pascal and for each household the information is stored in a
file called "EA-HM-HH.TXT" where EA is the enumeration area number, HM is
the homestead number and HH is the household number. Within this file the
