truncated normal
Does anyone know of an R-function that will generate an observation from a truncated normal (left or right) with a mu and sigma2? Any correspondence would be greatly appreciated. Lack of independence in anova()
If the observations are normally distributed and the 2xk design is balanced, theory requires that the tests for interaction and row effects be independent. In my program, appended below, this would translate to cntT (approx)= cntR*cntI/N if all R routines were functioning correctly. They aren't. sim2=function(size,N,p){ cntR=0 cntC=0 cntI=0 cntT=0 cntP=0 for(i in 1:N){

More on the archive bit saga
Thanks to all that have helped so far. I now have a test server running on Ubuntu 6.06 and Samba 3.0.22. I also configured ACL and user_xattr on the filesystem running the shares. But now I have very strange behavior that I hope someone has a clue about. User smith can open two files (foo.txt and faa.txt) with Notepad, Wordpad and Microsoft Word. The behavior for all three is different:

Fax for Asterisk download selector broken?
In what appears to be the most current documentation of FFA I'm directed to http://www.digium.com/en/docs/FAX/faa-download.php However the download selector utility found there "ain't working". Specifically, none of the drop lists appear to be populated (in any browser, on any platform), thereby preventing any actual 'selection'. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there

listof
Dear R developers A question about the class 'listof', defined in package 'stats'. Other than its definition and use in the code for 'anova', we can't see that the class 'listof' is used for anything else (in recommended packages, or elsewhere). In the spatstat package we have been using a 'listof' to represent a list of spatial objects of the same

Many problems since a reinstall.
Hi there, Recently, i had a kernel panic on my computer.. Afortunately, I had backup and easily made a restore of the computer. BUT, samba has become a really headache for me. First of all, I had to rejoin the domain in the clients, that was fine, the users could login to the clients, but they couldn't open some programs like Inventor nor AutoCAD. R-SIG-Fedora Digest, Vol 21, Issue 3
Ranjit, Thanks for the follow up, the open source community is incredible. Long story short, I was able to install through the repositories. Then cleaned up some other issues (tcl/tk, java and others) and did a custom install of 2.10. Which brings me to another question, when yum installed R2.11 as an update, did it use the settings from the original 2.10 repository installation or did it
