Dear R contributors,
I recently dowloaded the R-1.3.1 on my SGi Origin 200 run by Irix6.5.
In order to instal it, I launched the command shown below:
env MAKE=gmake ./configure
The output was as follow::
R is now configured for mips-sgi-irix6.5
Source directory: .
Installation directory: /usr/local

Building under IRIX 6.5 (report)
On my IRIX system (SGI compilers, gcc not installed) ./configure runs fine,
but there is a problem with make (output below) that can be solved by
changing one line in src/modules/lapack/Makefile. If this line is changed,
make runs without problems. 'make check' still has a problem
(sh[14]: /usr/sbin/perl: arg list too long), but I assume this is
"cosmetic".

R 1.7.0 fails to compile on OS X 10.2.5
Hello -
I'm trying to compile R 1.7.0 on a PowerBook running OS X 10.2.5. I've
compiled R (1.6.2) successfully before on this machine, under either
10.2.3 or 10.2.4. My gcc is from the latest Apple Developer Tools
release and the g77 is up-to-date via Fink. R passes ./configure just
fine, with the following options:
R is now configured for powerpc-apple-darwin6.5

make error for R-2.3.0
Hello,
I'm trying to install R on a linux machine running Red Hat 8. I ran
./configure
make
and get the following error. I've installed several versions of R (2.2.1
most recently) on this machine and haven't had any problems until now. I
wondered if the outdated compiler (gcc version 3.2) was the problem and
attempted to install my own, more recent version. I tried gcc versions 4.1.0

Installation problem on SGI IRIX6.5
Hi, all,
I'm a newbie to R. I came across a problem when I tried to install R on
an SGI machine which is running IRIX64 6.5.
I have successfully run configure, but when I tried to run "make"(or
"gmake"), errors came out. Following is the error message.
Does someone has experiences in the R's installation on IRIX ? Any hints
will be greatly appreciated !

error compiling portable openssh 3.6.1p1 on SGI IRIX 6.5x
Hi,
First checking out http://www.openbsd.org/errata.html
Following is output and error from trying to compile the latest openssh
on SGI IRIX (using cc). Previous versions of openssh have compiled
cleanly on this system using the following configure options.
Is there a quick fix for this?
Cheers,
Lachlan.

compiling R for SGI IRIX
When I attempt to compile R, I immediately get the error:
'make: file `Makefile' line 49: bad character & (octal 46)
*** Error code 1 (bu21)'
I have looked at line 49 of each of the makefiles and none of them seem
to contain this character.
Any suggestions?

R compile on AIX 5.2
Fellow R Enthusiasts..
I'm trying to compile R on AIX 5.2 32bit with gcc 3.3.2-5. I've
tried both the development bundle R-devel_2006-01-25.tar.gz and the
R-beta.tar.gz from about a month ago. In each instance, I'm using the
following options prior to running "./configure --prefix=/usr/local/R":
OBJECT_MODE=32
