Can't get into share
It appears I have things set up. Linux (RH6.1) box is running samba and
I'm trying to access shares from my 98 box.

boxes.
If I d-click to open the smb box, I DO get a folder withthe share name in
explorer. Then, if I try to open that folder (share) it asks for a
password for resource \\MACHINE\SHARE

Windows 2000
Just curious, has anyone gotten Samba to work with Windows 2000? I've
mucked with it a bit. But can't seem to make it go. I haven't tried
applying the NT 4.0 Registry patches yet I will probably take a look at
them and see if I can get them working with Win2000.
Thanks!

How to calculate a double integral ...?
Dear R-Friends,
How can I calculate a double integral like
\int_a^b \int_c^y g(x, y) dx dy
where a, b, c are constants, g(x, y), e.g.,
g(x, y) = tan(x + y).
I tried to nested integrate() and adapt(),
but none of them working, seemingly due to the
limits can not be specified constants.

Found "answer" to my question on MTB's INDICATOR
Dear R-Friends,
Sorry to bother everyone with my earlier question:
"Do we have similar R function to work like Minitab's INDICATOR?"
I found the way to make things work: e.g.,

factor(x)2 factor(x)3 factor(x)5 factor(x)6

question about codebook
Hi, all
I am studying the ogg-vorbis algorithm but I have less knowledge about the
codebook structure of vorbis. After tracing the release source code, I
found it doesn't use huffman tree to decode the huffman code instead of
using a special mapping and pre-look. The memory requirement seems similar
with huffman tree decoding. Could anyone tell me how the vorbis huffman
decoding works

samba will disappear from the win2000's network places
Dear all:
I've found one strange things.
I am using Red Hat Linux 5.2 and Samba 2.0.6. (I rebuild the RPM in
RH 5.2) The samba is treated as a Server. Every windows 95/98/NT could
access the samba server without problem.
In windows 2000 RC2 (treated as client), it could access the samba
server. But if I enable the "IP Security Policies on Local Machine".

When the "official" copy will be corrected?
Since I just experienced another crash on R 1.4.0 for Windows
(this time is on plot(x, y) after using gls() of package nlme) and
am told (thanks Andy) that is might due to the "official" version
of binary copy.
I am also told that

This has been asked several times on the list."
Then, I am wondering when the

Why color changed in ps.file?
Dear R-friends,
When I selected "Save as postscript" via mouse left-button on the active
"R Graphics" window, those colored lines I made in the plot changed in
the saved postscript file, e.g., color blue becomes green, red becomes blue,
...
I have not changed any setting/options.
What's going on?

How to use install.packages()
Dear R-friends,
As the binary windows version of R being distributed,
what is the correct way to install contributed packages without

The answer in "R for Windows FAQ" says:

or from a local .zip file by using install.packages: see its help page."

xlab not displayed when 'expression' is used
Hi all,
When using the function expression to label the axis of a plot. I found
that it labeled the
y-axis correctly but left no label on the x-axis.
The command I'm using is as follows
plot(x,y,xlab=expression(v[junc]),ylab=expression(c[junc]))
Any help is much appreciated

PlotMoth Refusing to Draw xlab
Occasionally I have had plotmath refuse to draw x-axis labels. This has happened when the label, created using expression(paste( ) ) as below, could be drawn easily in the available space. I have not reproduced that, but the following example with a clearly overly long label results in no xlab at all. I hoped that at least a truncated label would be plotted. This is probably related to my

qqnorm(*, datax=TRUE, xlab,ylab) -- S+ compatibility problem
Just found because an old (written for S+) function of mine did
label plots wrongly with R.
Example --- inspired from example(qqnorm) ---

qqnorm(precip, ylab = "Precipitation [in/yr] ...")
qqnorm(precip, ylab = "Precipitation [in/yr] ...", datax = TRUE)

difficulties
to understand how i should use them.
Thanks
