Can't get ipw2200 to work in CentOS 5 on Dell laptop
I've installed ipw2200-firmware-3.0-3.nodist.rf from RPMForge using yum OK. I've loaded the ipw modules with /sbin/modprobe ipw2200 and then /sbin/lsmod | grep ipw which gives: ipw2200 136873 0 ieee80211 33417 1 ipw2200 However, when I run system-config-network I don't see Intel Coporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG (eth1) in the list of adapters. Also, when I

Boot hangs at Initializing hardware...
Anyone else having problems with 4.2 with the boot hanging at Initializing hardware... storage network ? Booting to single user or typing 'I' for interactive startup does not help. Not a timeout problem - hangs 'forever' - days at least. Did a complete reinstall and rebooted OK, did updates and the boot started hanging again. Same problem with either the 4.2 standard

CentOS Digest, Vol 74, Issue 31
thanks for the reply, Phil It would, were udev not inserting USB and/or eSATA drives at /dev/sdb1 and/or /dev/sdc1 and exposing the array to the udev rule intended to handle only removable devices (at sdc or sdd). The array then mounts unpredictably in /media/xxx-sdc1 or sdd1 - not what is wanted - depend on how many removable devices are plugged at the time of rebooting. Of course, a single

http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaRuntimeEnvironment Did not make it DRAFT as it has evolved from old pages, has been well tested, and is near perfect. :-) Constructive criticism is, as usual, solicited and welcomed. Phil

php 5.2
Hi, I was asking about php 5.2 because I would like to use this program with these requirements: http://www.magentocommerce.com/system-requirements This ecommerce store is built with the zend framework and requires php 5.2. Mcrypt is not in the centos mirrors either. I did manage to get this beta ecommerce store installed on php 5.1.6-12 by removing the mycript line in the install xml file and

Running From Live DVD & Keeping Settings Between Boots
Someone posted how to use a memory card (USB or another kind) to save settings between boots of a Live CD/DVD. I believe it was posted not too long ago and I thought I had kept the email, but now that I'm looking for the information, I can not find it. I've done some searching and I either get way too many hits or way too few, none of which are what I'm looking for. Does anyone

VNC-Server HowTo
Gerald and P.J., I just finished setting up VNC services following http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/VNC-Server and have a few comments. "2.3. How to upgrade WBEL4 to CentOS4?
Hi, I've got a couple of servers that are running WBEL4 that I would like to upgrade to CentOS4. I noticed that there is a FAQ which explains how to upgrade WBEL3 to CentOS3, but haven't found anything similar for WBEL4. Are the instructions for the WBEL3 upgrade the same for WBEL4? Should I be doing something else instead? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Eric

Install On Partitionable RAID1
I have some suggested tweaks and changes to http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Install_On_Partitionable_RAID1 1. The user should be instructed to start rescue mode with networking in order to be able to retrieve the patch for mkinitrd. 2. The command to create /etc/mdadm.conf will result in an extra line "spares=1" while the array is still syncing. Adding " | head -1 " to the
