Some questions: Release Notes CentOS 5.6
Hello
A couple of days ago, I did the Spanish translation for ReleaseNotes
CentOS 5.6
and I have some questions
Right now, in the Spanish version we are using nice icons for "Notes".
Would you like the same in the English and other translated versions ?
(I know that is not important, just looks nice ;-) )
On many places we mention packages names or file names. I suggest
use

Re-inventing the Wheel (again?)
I''m new to puppet and working my way through the documentation. I''m
struggling with the puppet labs module repo.
I''ve toyed with numerous automation and configuration methodologies over
the decades. Perhaps I''m seeing puppet wrong, Compared with CFEngine
there is a a lot I like, but I''m not sure why I''m still having to re-invent

problem with 5.4 x86_64 DVD iso?
Hi all,
I downloaded the 5.4 x86_64 DVD ISO this morning (CentOS-5.4-x86_64-bin-DVD.iso). However, the md5sum and sha1sums both don't match what's in the md5sum.txt or the release notes (http://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes/CentOS5.4). I downloaded two ISOs from two different mirrors, RIT and ANL, and both ISOs have the same checksums (match each other), which are different from

revision numbers on translated articles
Good Evening.
As the 'translation community' is growing I would like to suggest to
add the 'revision number' of the original article on which the
translation is based on, so someone else could easily diff to keep
translations up to date. It would be great if translators add
something like:
'translation based on #N'
as footnote where N is the version of the original

Chroot Install
Good Morning,
I want to update my CF-Microdrive for my router with CentOS (currently
there is Slacky on it). I have attached the microdrive to my notebook
using a pcmcia CF adapter. Within my CentOS installation the drive is
detected correctly as ide_cf and all partitions are shown.
But as the installer does not ship the necessary modules for a pcmcia
ide installation i am searching for a way to

I added some bigger picture notes to http://llvm.org/docs/ReleaseNotes.html this morning, but we're still missing a lot of text, specifically:
- clang:
clang has it's own release notes

New Centos 5.3 gnome backgroup
I don't know if I really like this background though it is kind of neat.
Where do I find the app to change this?

Anyone know what this warning is about? Nothing in list history about it either..
On inbound calls from my SIP provider I get multiple warnings as follows:
WARNING[5351]: chan_sip.c:7086 check_via: 'MODH6QD' is not a valid host
Everything else works but these warnings are a pain and I don't know what
they are about.... Nothing on previos lists or Google explains...

iptables -d fqdn instead of IP
Hi all,
does it work to define iptables rules with a fqdn as destination
instead of an IP address? Or is it useful to resolve the name first
using e.g. nslookup, writing the result to a variable which is then
used within the -d statement?

.First() in R 1.9.0
Dear R experts,
I just upgraded R from 1.8.1 to 1.9.0 version. My .First()
function in ~/.Rprofile contains x11() and par() functions.
.First <- function() {
x11(display = "", 8.0, 5.0)
par(las = 1, ...)
## ...
}
And, R claims now, on startup:
[hello messages skiped ...]
Error in .First() : couldn't find function "x11"

several questions
VorbisHi
Any help is appreciate.
I have two questions.
First, I looked into the vorbis-?-specific and was confused by the floor1 algorithm.
I think at last the aim is to derive the piecewise curve with the list X and Y,then when encodering ,why not
use the selected point orderly to get the curve ? In other words, the specific use the list of [0,128,64,32,96,16,48,80] ,
why can not use
