Trouble adding machine accounts
I'm not able to add machine account(specifically Samba member servers) to my Samba 3.0 Domain. When I try to run 'net rpc join' and provide the root credentials, I get 'NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER' in the output. My domain database is in LDAP and root is a local unix user. I know auth works, because 'net rpc info' works. It seems there's a problem mapping between the

xenballooning
As I understand concept of xenballooning, it allow to take memory from guest and return it to hypervisor. This allow to reduce amount of memory allocated to VM in realtime without rebooting VM. But how we can add more memory to guest VM in realtime, than was at boot time? Can we somehow make balloon inflated at start time? (F.e. VM starts with memory = 512Mb and balloon inflating to +512Mb).

Need help in compiling and installing Xen-3.4.1 on Lucid
Hi, I am a Xen newbie and have been trying to get Xen-3.4.1 working on my Ubuntu Lucid (kernel version 2.6.32-21) system, using kernel 2.6.18.8 as dom0. In attempting this, I ran into the following issue. On booting into Xen, I get these errors: Mounting none on /dev failed. No such device. ... Gave up waiting for root device. ... Alert! Could not mount /dev/sda1 as root device. Dropping to a

HVM Network Interfaces
Hi Everyone, In my HVM guest''s config file, I have given my guest 3 interface. I have called them fw1, fw2 and fw3. I have joined each interface to a bridge on the Dom0. This does appear when I do a "brctl show". However, there are 3 other interfaces also added called tapx.0,tapx.1 and tapx.2 (Where x is the domain ID for the guest). Furthermore, I am only able to run

xen upgrade problem, cant boot from 3.4.2 to 4.0.0
Hi Guys! I have a very interesting problem. I run gentoo and have been running xen-3.4.2 on 2 server computers (Supermicro-based, IBM). A little time ago, I have tried to upgrade xen-3.4.2 to xen-4.0.0 (with emerge) on the Supermicro server, but the computer wasn''t able to boot with the following breakdown: [ 62.848947] 0800 1315427328 sda driver: sd [ 62.849264] 0801 208813 sda1 [

Unable to boot 3.0.0-rc kernels and Xen 4.1.1
Hi everyone, I''ve compiled 3.0.0-rc6 from kernel.org , with all the pv_ops config options set as per the Xen wiki. The kernel boots fine, but not in combination with Xen. All i get is a completely blank screen , and after a minute or so the machine reboots. THe hypervisor seems to work OK with other (non-dom0 , 2.6.32.x) kernels, i can see Xen startup messages, before it finally

pygrub question
Hi, I''ve prepared a Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server on a Xen 3.2-1 host running Debian Lenny on kernel 2.6.26-2-xen-amd64. The Ubuntu 10.04 domU is running a 2.6.32-24-server kernel from the Ubuntu repositories, which is (must be :-) ) xen-aware. The domU uses pygrub to boot and it works like a charm. Now I''m trying to deploy this domU on a Xen 3.2-1 host running Debian Etch on kernel

Current 2.6.3x kernel and patches for Ubuntu 9.04?
Are these the current functional procedures for dropping a dom0 on a jaunty 64 bit server? xen-tools: http://bderzhavets.wordpress.com/2009/08/14/attempt-of-prevu-xen-3-4-1-hypervisor-on-ubuntu-jaunty-server-64-bit/ kernel: http://bderzhavets.wordpress.com/2009/07/07/building-xenified-2-6-30-1-kernel-via-xen-patches-2-6-30-2-tar-bz2/ Regarding the patches used in the above procedure from here:

rebased openSUSE dom0 xen patches for 2.6.31
Hi, I have uploaded a new set of rebased openSUSE dom0 xen patches and Gentoo ebuild for 2.6.31 to http://code.google.com/p/gentoo-xen-kernel/downloads/list, Jan Beulich recently identified the cause of the null pointer crash and other stability problems that affected previous versions and with the necessary fixes applied the kernel has run for 2+ days with no issues at all, I think you will find

Expanding a virtual block device
Hi list. I''m running Xen 4.0.1 on Debian. I''m trying to live resize a block device : - I have a arbitrary block device in my dom0 (/dev/mapper/vm-vol42). - I start a PV domain with that device as a disk (disk = [''phy:/dev/mapper/vm-vol42,xvda,w'']). - I resize vm-vol42 in the dom0 (adding size only) - the dom0 sees the device''s new size. -

ntpd under Xen Dom0 exhibits extremely high jitter/noise? runs stable/quiet under non-xen kernel.
On a selection of boxes, ntpd running in Xen Dom0 reproducibly exhibits extermely high noise/jitter. Switching back to -default, non-xen kernel ntpd runs with very low jitter/noise. Question -- how can I ''tame'' ntpd noise & jitter when running in Dom0? Is the problem a config issue, or a bug? Already reported this downstream; everybody''s "stumped".

Match between Dom0 and DomU PV
I have a bit of a Xen theory question. I have a Debian 5 Lenny x64 Dom0 currently running two DomUs. One is an x64 built via Xen-tools, and it seems to be running great. The second (known as Alpha) is having some troubles, as I mentioned in my post "Ubuntu 8.04 DomU crash" to this list on 5/12/09. It is an x86/32 Ubuntu 8.04 that started life as an HVM and was rebuilt into a PV where
