Questions regarding journal replay
Today, I had to uncleanly shutdown one of our machines due to an error
in 2.6.28.3. Durin the boot sequence, the ext4 partition /home
experienced a journal replay. /home looks like this:

measuring iops on linux - numbers make sense?
Hello,
When approaching hosting providers for services, the first question
many of them asked us was about the amount of IOPS the disk system
should support.
While we stress-tested our service, we recorded between 4000 and 6000
"merged io operations per second" as seen in "iostat -x" and collectd
(varies between the different components of the system, we have a few

raid6: rmw writes all the time?
Hi all,
we got a new test system here and I just also tested btrfs raid6 on
that. Write performance is slightly lower than hw-raid (LSI megasas) and
md-raid6, but it probably would be much better than any of these two, if
it wouldn''t read all the during the writes. Is this a known issue? This
is with linux-3.9.2.
Thanks,
Bernd

[PATCH] blktrace: document -k option
the -k option was missing from the usage() output and was present

HyperV (win2012) storage on Samba4
Hi,
I'm trying to expose a linux share via Samba4 to serve as a VM backing
store (storage) for HyperV VMs running on Win2012 R2 Standard server. The
system details are:
Intel(R) Xeon CPU.
64 bit operating system.
I'm not sure if SMB3 is fully supported by Samba 4(codebase corresponds to
"master" git branch). The VM deployment fails while trying to create *.vhdx
file; the error

Where is the blktrace utility?
I keep reading that RHEL/CentOS 5 supports blktrace, but I can't seem
to find the blktrace/blkparse utilities.
Is it that just the functionality is available in the kernel, but the
user is left to have to hunt down the latest versions of the utilities
on the net?
If anybody knows where to get the latest versions of these utilities
I would greatly appreciate it.

clustering technique using lsi
Hello sir,
You have interpreted correctly that clustering will be done by generating
the ring around the Document(i.e. the basic idea of LSI). But it is not
like increasing the radius and the next shell will be another cluster,
Rather it would pick one document (based on relevance score) and form a
ring around it to cluster the document, then from the remaining
documents(not in the cluster but

Samba 3 with LDAP vs. Windows 10 - I KNOW SAMBA3 IS DEPRECATED, BUT COULD BE INTERESTING :)
Hi Folks,
after some days of intensive google-work I didn't find a solution for
joining Windows 10 Clients (release version) to Samba 3.6.6 LDAP based
NT Domain.
I know, that I should switch to Samba4 but we got hundreds of scripts,
services, devices and other stuff (our coffeemachine estimates the
preferred strength for each user ... mission critical ;) ) that use the
ldap service for

You mean, to take review on proposal I need to create an application?
and if it is the case then please tell me how to create application?

[PATCH] - xc_core.c/xenctrl.h - refactor slightly to allow user specified output routines
The existing xc_domain_dumpcore is very specific to disk/file based
output. Refactor the code slightly to allow more user-specified
control. This is done by adding a parallel xc_domain_dumpcore2 (naming
isn''t always my strong suit), which allows the specification of a
callback routine and an opaque argument block. The existing dumpcore
routine is modified to use the callback for all

Xen+Munin+Monit?
Hi All,
What is the best way to remotely monitor/administer a group of xen domUs
across a network?
We''re planning to deploy a few H/W servers with paravirtualized domUs.
What are the best alternatives? What works and What doesn''t?
Share your experiences.
Cheers

clustering technique using lsi
I am still trying to find some faster clustering technique for search
result. One technique which strike to me is, using the Latent Semantic
Indexing for Clustering the search result can give better results. In which
we don't even need to iterate over different values of 'k'(in K-means
algorithm) to cluster documents rather we can cluster whole search result
in one go.
How Latent

[PATCH] Limit MCG Cap
Intercept guest reads of MSR_IA32_MCG_CAP and limit the number of memory banks reported to one.
This prevents us from trying to read status of non-existent banks when migrated to a machine
with fewer banks.

Sir,
I have prepared a draft proposal for clustering problem. If you have
previous year's accepted proposal please share it, that would be very
helpful.
And also I have attached my proposal, please review it.
Thanks

Hello sir!
Thank you for your gentle reply, I have visited to the github repository
before but the code was not commented properly still I am trying to
understand and figure out the redundant task in the algorithm by reading
the code. For the same I asked you if there is any other document or
information is available with you which can help me to understand it better
would be great. It's okay

A query about clustering Idea
I am interested in clustering of search results idea, I know clustering
techniques from the perspective of Machine learning! And I am figuring out
the way to implement machine learning technique for clustering search
result. I had 5-month back a project on LSI(latent simantic indexing and
raking the search result) through that if I am given the TF-IDF matrix then
clustering can be done quickly and

Hi,
the $subj warning appears sometimes in syslog, in my case when

The message comes from disk-io.c btree_readpage_end_io_hook():
