Xen 4.2.0 - CPU Frequency Scaling
Hi, This has been a problem since the xen-acpi-processor code was added to the kernel source. I wasn''t sure if the problem I was seeing was related to the old version (4.1.2) of Xen that I was using but now I''m on 4.2.0 and it still exists I thought I would check if I have a misconfiguration or if I have discovered a problem. My system is a dual AMD Opteron(tm) Processor

Support for CPU frequency scaling in Xen
Hi, Does Xen provide support for CPU frequency scaling? If there exists such support, from which version they support it? Otherwise what problems do exist in support frequency scaling in Xen? Thanks, Vahid _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel

cpu frequency scaling in domUs
Hi, I''ve recently installed xen-3.2.1 on my AMD Sempron(tm) machine. It runs gentoo 2.6.21 as dom0 and cpu frequency scaling works in dom0. But inside a domU, cpu frequency scaling is not working. By checking the boot log in domU I found that domU is unable to load the powernow driver: "powernow-k8: BIOS error - no PSB or ACPI _PSS objects" I wonder if it is possible to have

Questions on cpu frequency scaling AMD vs. Intel
I've been playing and comparing frequency scaling between AMD and Intel CPUs yesterday and there seem to be great differences between AMD and Intel and some gotchas. This is all on CentOS 5.2 with latest Xen kernels (which are supposed to be powersaving-enabled since 5.2). AMD: It seems once I get the AMD CPU to use the ondemand governor it works very well and very efficiently. But this

cpu frequency scaling in xen 3.3.1
Hi, i read the xenpm wiki page, but i cannot use the "p-states". xenpm shows: xenpm cpu id : 0 total C-states : 2 idle time(ms) : 1776034 C0 : transition [00000000000000000000] residency [00000000000000000000 ms] C1 : transition [00000000000000260278] residency

CPU frequency scaling (SpeedStep and PowerNow)
Hello, I have a new laptop (Core duo 2) and I plan to run Xen on it (using Windows in a DomU). The laptop won''t be connected to a power plug all the time. So it would be nice to have the possibility to set the CPU frequency to a lower value to save some power. I only found the patch by Matt Yourst for AMD k8 processors

Status of frequency scaling
Hi! I would like to know the status of the frequency scaling in XEN. I found a web site saying that XEN doesn’t work with frequency scaling, at the other hand I found some fixes for powernow-k8 to get rid of some messages. I have an AMD64. powerno-k8 works find with non-XEN kernels, but with XEN-kernels I get the error: powernow-k8: Found 1 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3400+ processors

scaling y-axis to relative frequency in multiple histogram (multhist)
Hi, I'm plotting a multiple histogram using the function multhist {package plotrix}, something like: library(plotrix) mh <- list(rnorm(200, mean=200, sd=50), rnorm(200, mean=250, sd=50)) multhist(mh) In this graph y-axis represents the frequency of observations.... but I would like it to be scaled into relative frequencies, does anybody know how to do this with multhist or similar

Guest's CPU frequency cannot be similar to host system
My resource: kernel: 4.16.8 host system: Ubuntu 16.04 Llbvirt : 4.2 Qemu : 2.12 Cpu : intel@core i7 6700 guest system: windows7 professional My problem: In my host, Cpu frequency is 3800~3900 MHz(4 socket and 2 thread) because i turn on “Intel Turbo Boost”. And silent frequency is 3.40 GHz. Then i boot my guest, But in Guest my cpu frequency is 3408

[PATCH][Retry 1] 1/4: cpufreq/PowerNow! in Xen: Xen timer changes
Enable cpufreq support in Xen for AMD Operton processors by: 1) Allowing the PowerNow! driver in dom0 to write to the PowerNow! MSRs. 2) Adding the cpufreq notifier chain to time-xen.c in dom0. On a frequency change, a platform hypercall is performed to scale the frequency multiplier in the hypervisor. 3) Adding a platform hypercall to the hypervisor the scale the frequency multiplier and reset

Inverse transform after applying function in frequency domain?
Dear R-Help, I wish to simulate a process so that it has certain properties in the frequency domain. What I attempted was to generate a random time-series signal, use spec-pgram(), apply a function in the frequency domain, and then inverse transform back to the time-domain. This idea does not seem as straight forward in practice as I anticipated. e.g. x<-ts(rnorm(1000, 0,1), frequency=256)

Random reboots with Xen 3.2.1
I am seeing random reboots after installing Xen 3.2.1 (running with linux-2.6.18-8 pulled from a few days ago). So far, the reboots only happen if I have enabled cpufreq=dom0-kernel and actually run frequency scaling (such as with the ondemand governor). The reboots only happen after a few hours. The machines seem to be stable if I pass the cpufreq option to Xen but disable frequency scaling. I

KVM guest incorrect CPU frequency
Hello, I am facing an issue where the detected CPU frequencies in KVM guests are incorrect. I am using the new Core i9 7900x with base clock 3.3GHz with "host-passthrough". Both Win10 and Linux guests incorrectly detect 3.45GHz for some reason. The workaround I have found is to temporarily switch to use HPET clocksource in the HOST before starting the VM. This makes the VMs correctly

bitrate scaling by freq / quality bug ? / comments
Hi again! I have some other suggestions/modifications. 1. Bitrate scaling by frequency in vorbis_encode_init: bpch=(long)((float)nominal_bitrate/(float)channels*44100.0f/(float)rate); With this modification, if we use -b128 at 22khz files, the OGG file will be 128kbit/s, not 64kbit/s ... 2. Probable quality bug: I tested some floating point constants (recalculated them (see below) and encoded

cpu frequency
Is it possible to set the CPU frequency exposed to the guest operating system for a kvm-enabled virtual machine ? The documentation does not mention anything about it. Thanks.
