"monitor"-ed address and IPI reduction
What is the point of specifying "current" as the address to monitor? The
memory location of interest really is irq_stat[cpu].__softirq_pending,
and if that was used it would then also be possible to actually avoid
sending IPIs when monitor/mwait are in use, as is being done on Linux.

expose MWAIT to dom0
There''re basically two methods to enter a given C-state: legacy (hlt + I/O read),
and native(using mwait). MWAIT is always preferred when both underlying CPU
and OS support, which is a more efficient way to conduct C-state transition.
Xen PM relies on Dom0 to parse ACPI Cx/Px information, which involves one
step to notify BIOS about a set of capabilities supported by OSPM. One capability

How to use Px/Cx for power saving?
Hi,
If we want to use ACPI power saving(Cx/Px), how do we use them?
I tried to turn CONFIG_xxxx of cpufreq on with linux-2.6.18-xen.hg,
but I couldn''t turn them on.
Also xenpm said the following error.
# xenpm get-cpuidle-states
Xen cpuidle is not enabled!
# xenpm get-cpufreq-states
Xen cpufreq is not enabled!
What should I do?
If there are some good documents, please tell me.

[PATCH] Fix lapic timer stop issue in deep C state
Local APIC timer may stop at deep C state (C3/C4...) entry/exit. this
patch add the logic that use platform timer (HPET) to reenable local
APIC timer at C state entry/exit.

[PATCH] x86: suppress HPET broadcast initialization in the presence of ARAT
This follows Linux commit 39fe05e58c5e448601ce46e6b03900d5bf31c4b0,
noticing that all this setup is pointless when ARAT support is there,
and knowing that on SLED11''s native kernel it has actually caused S3
resume issues.
A question would be whether HPET legacy interrupts should be forced
off in this case (rather than leaving whatever came from firmware).

[RFC] pvops domain0 Cx/Px info parser patch
Hi, Jeremy
Since now the pv_ops domain0 is approaching, we are considering to port the dom0 power management related code, or more specifically, the Cx/Px ACPI info parsing code, to pv_ops domain0 tree, so that people can utilize Xen power management capability (Cx/PX) under pv_ops domain0. This RFC is a draft version for comments.

[PATCH 2/4] CPUIDLE: Avoid remnant LAPIC timer intr while force hpetbroadcast
CPUIDLE: Avoid remnant LAPIC timer intr while force hpetbroadcast
LAPIC will stop during C3, and resume to work after exit from C3. Considering below case:
The LAPIC timer was programmed to expire after 1000us, but CPU enter C3 after 100us and exit C3 at 9xxus.
0us: reprogram_timer(1000us)
100us: entry C3, LAPIC timer stop
9xxus: exit C3 due to unexpected event, LAPIC timer continue running

[PATCH] ACPI/cpuidle: remove unused "power" field from Cx state data
It has never been used for anything, and Linux 3.7 doesn''t propagate
this information anymore.

Konrad, on the pv-ops side it may be better to pass zero rather than
leaving the field completely uninitialized.

Re: [PATCH] x86: clear CPUID output of leaf 0xd for Dom0 when xs
Hi Jan,
I was wondering if we should not let the code fall through and clear all registers to zero but rather clear just the one bit we care about? My concern is that a future Intel revision may expand this function and return other information besides that XSAVEOPT, which would then be wiped out by the fall-through code. I''m thinking something like this. Let me know if I have

Align periodic vpts to reduce timer interrupts and save power
Hi,
After c/s 18694 changed vHPET to vpt, for single HVM RHEL 5u1 guest idle case, our box will consume ~0.8W more power than before. The reason is two periodical vpts'' expires are hard to be aligned in the 50us soft timer SLOP. So we are considering a vpt specific enhancement which could try to just align periodical timers within vpt.
A generic enhancement is to add a new interface

[PATCH] x86: Back port from latest Linux kernel to enable C2/C3 entry via MWAIT
Current xen-linux (2.6.18) not include support for Cx MWAIT entry
method. Back port from latest Linux kernel (already there since 2.6.23).
Without this patch, _CST method couldn''t get C states with FFH address
space type.

[PATCH] Adjust handle_hpet_broadcast to let it run better before broadcast exit
Adjust handle_hpet_broadcast to let it run better before broadcast exit
Since hpet_broadcast_exit has been moved after interrupt enabled in C3
case, so adjust the handler of hpet broadcast to adapt to this.
Meanwhile, remove a freqently executed debug print line to simplify the
serial output.

[RFC PATCH] Exporting ACPI Pxx/Cxx states to other kernel subsystems (v1).
Hello,
The following patches are a solution to a problem we have encountered
when using the Xen hypervisor:
- Need Pxx/Cxx states to save on power consumption when using Xen (we
do want those datacenters to consume less power!),
- Also need to figure out the Turbo mode so that the scheduler can properly
boost a core for CPU bound guests.
In essence the Xen hypervisor requires that

Release of Design library; update of Hmisc library
The Design library has been fully ported to R except for Cox proportional hazards regression modeling (using Therneau's survival package) which will be available in about two weeks. It will take much longer to make all the example code executable, is it currently contains many examples for which data are not provided. AMI + AGI for outbound click to dial
Hey Gang,
Trying to figure out how I can do the following (have each part working
individually but drawing a blank on combining)
1) click on-screen which sends an AMI originate (works fine)
2) the originated call is to an internal extension that looks up the number
to be dialed (works)
3) then via Perl, adding in a SIPAddHeader for answer-after=0.. (works
separate from the above)

[PATCH]x86:x2apic: Disable x2apic on x86-32 permanently
x86:x2apic: Disable x2apic on x86-32 permanently
x2apic initialization on x86_32 uses vcpu pointer before it is initialized. As x2apic is unlikely to be used on x86_32, this patch disables x2apic permanently on x86_32. It also asserts the sanity of vcpu pointer before dereference to prevent further misuse.
