RE: [PATCH] Minor fix to xentop to stop it dying whendomains go away at the wrong time
Good suggestions - you are right that we only have issues when a VM is in transition so simply removing it from the returned list should be fine. Turns out that this also means the collectors don''t need to return special codes either - they are back to either working (and potentially pruning a domain from the list) or failing completely. Patch attached (boy, this is taking waaay more

xen: when devices go away...
Hi there, I''ve been experimenting with iscsi and xen and have found an interesting behavior. I''d reasoned that using iscsi volumes as devices in a software RAID1 configuration would be a Good Idea since when one of the iscsi servers goes away the filesystem is stable. I have a dom0 which has access to two iscsi volumes on two seperate iscsi target servers. I configure a domU

Group SID problems?
Have a site where the network users are connecting to most shares through group usage. Unfortunately, access to Samba is sporadic. Sometimes they connect okay, sometimes they can't connect at all. Looking at their system config, I notice that the SID's for the groups look..... odd. The users group ends in 3005.... but each user's PrimaryGroupSID is a group with a SID that ends in

Moving away from XenServer - need some advise on networking please
Hi, I currently have 4 physical machines served off a SAN configured in XenServer. I am considering moving as XenServer is just a little bit too restrictive - love Xen, just not XenServer. Each host has 4 1GB NICs - two which are bonded to the external network, and 2 which are bonded to the SAN. I also have a single VM which runs vyatta which serves as the firewall and gateway. This cluster

so close! an iptables rule away.....
Hi, I''ve been making leaps and strides with Xen on FC4. It has been easy to get installed and to start our first virtual host. I''ve got one outstanding issue with iptables that is preventing me progressing further. This is a colo''d server. It has s single NIC with public IPs. The bridge is set to come up binding vif* <> xen-br0 <> eth1. I can start a

Nagios Monitoring with xentop
I am creating some custom nagios plugins and I am scraping data from xen using the nagios command: /usr/sbin/xentop -b -i 2 -d1 I am trying to get the network tx / rx data, however I think I am missing something here. NETTX(k) NETRX(k) So total network bandwidth is 1048576 k if the above header from xentop is true. So I am wondering why the output for each vm exceeds the theoretical max, Is

evtchn_upcall_mask
This topic came up months ago (under the thread "make hypercall_preempt_check() a little more sensitive"), but since then, due to a misunderstanding, PPC has been running with a hack instead of a solution. So anyways, I''ve been digging into this again. PowerPC domains are allowed to write to the "interrupts enabled" bit (called External Exceptions, or EE) in the

Wine Success and Failure report
Hello, (first post) You probably don't want to hear about my Linux-related story, so I'll cut telling you that about 5 months ago I switched from XP to Ubuntu. I've been a C/C++ programmer since I was 13 (2 years go), so I consider myself to understand a great deal of things (but hey, what is my opinion worth nowadays?) Anyway, In this post I'd like to report my Successes and

RE: xen - rdma live migration support
Hi Ola, There was some code done by IBM a few years ago in conjunction with a University that worked and showed the benefits but AFAIK it was never integrated into Xen. The research paper is around on the web. A few of us requested RDMA migration support for version 4.0 and it is at the top of the request list, I suspect it is probably a case of enough people asking and Citrix approving.
