OpenSuSE 11.2 bug, dom0-cpus limit causes xenwatch_cb running 100% and xm command freeze and xend dead
Hi all,
I have upgraded a test machine from OpenSuSE 11.1 to 11.2.
I have found following bug:
the server is a 2x quadcore intel box also 2x4=8cpu
If you limit the dom0 cpu with dom0-cpus= [1-7]:
- [xenwatch_cb] is running 100% cpu and makes var log entry every 65 sec
BUG: soft lockup - CPU#X stuck for 61s!
- xm commands not work
- xend is dead
if set dom0-cpus to 0 or 8:
- everything looks

xen 3.2.1 + intel quad core + 8gigs of ram + linux
Hi!
Anyone have a suggestion which version of Linux would be the best host?
We typically use Ubuntu but we are flexible since we want the best
performance and the least amount of headaches getting it installed and
working.
Thanks,
Jimmy

OCFS2 1.2.9-1 RHEL5
Hi,
I still need to use 1.2.9-1 of OCFS2 as I have an older RHEL4 server that needs to share the filesystem. I noticed that there have been no updates and kernel 2.6.18-164.10.1 is out for RHEL5. Are you going to release updates or have you now finished with 1.2.9-1 for RHEL5?
Many thanks
Matt

VTd not showing PCI device in VM
I''m having trouble actually seeing a PCI device in my VMs. I''ve
resolved several of my issues using previous posts and using the
VTdHowTo wiki page. I have both VT and VTd BIOS options enabled. I
have pciback hiding the devices and xm can list and assign the devices
to VMs. I don''t see the PCI devices in my VMs though. I have tried a

After yum upgrade, the new CentOS5 kernel [ kernel-2.6.18-92.1.1.el5.i686 ]

I get kernel panic at powernowk8_init+0x05e/0x1c3.
The previous kernel [ kernel-2.6.18-53.1.21.el5.i686 ] seems to work fine.
I am wondering if anyone has met

Linux distributions supported by Xen as PVM domUs
Hi:
Reading Red Hat''s Website and a printed manual of RH184 (Red Hat
Virtualization course) I see that RHEL 5 only supports RHEL 4.5 and
RHEL 5 as paravirtualized guests. So I asume this is the same
situation for CentOS 5, right?
What''s the dependency between Xen versions for paravirtualized guests?
I ask this questions because I got this experiences:

creating vector os zeros for simulations (beginner's question)
Dear R helpers,

I know this is a simple task, but I'm new to R and I'm still havind difficulties with the language.
I want to create 30 vectors to be used in a simulation, each with 1 columm and 5 lines, of random numbers N(0,1).
What I tried was this:

N=150
u2<-rep(1:150,0)
u2<-list(matrix(0,5))
u2
for(i in 1:N)
{
u2[i]<-rnorm(5)
}
u2
### also tried this:
N=150

Replacement in an expression - can't use parse()
Dear all,
Suppose I have a very long expression e. Lets assume, for simplicity, that it is
e = expression(u1+u2+u3)
Now I wish to replace u2 with x and u3 with 1. I.e. the 'new'
expression, after replacement, should be:
> e
expression(u1+x+1)
My question is how to do the replacement?
I have tried using:
> e = parse(text=gsub("u2","x",e))
> e =

Symbolic derivation using D in package stats - how do I properly convert the returned call into a character string?
Dear all,
I am using the function 'D' in the 'stats' package to perform symbolic
derivation.
This works very well and it is much faster than e.g. Mathematica (at
least for my purposes).
First, I would like to thank the development team for this excellent
function.
However, I run into trouble in some cases, particularly when I am to do
some operations on long expressions

I have problems with installation of Xen 3.1 in OpenSUSE 10.2.
I have unpacked the xen 3.1 tarball and installed software using
